Superintelligence Future

Superintelligence is decades away and plausibly something we may see in our lifetime. For the time being it is important to understand and prevent future ultraintelligences that could develop far beyond the human monarchy we have obtained. This might scare the majority of humans who believe what we are looking at is some sort of beginning of the end, and it should. The future of the A.I. will change the way that technology is seen and acts, but it will also displace many Americans who are not a part of the technological revolution. A.I., while scary in science fiction terms, is truly scary when it could effectively level the middle class by just being created. The goal of this paper is to show that the near future of artificial intelligence …show more content…
Humanity has been prepared for these robotics replacing truck and taxi drivers. What we couldn’t have planned for is business operation jobs, food service jobs, production and manufacturing jobs and sales positions, “these areas will likely see significant declines in employment: 25% to 75%. These are industries where labor is a major component of the cost structure” (Waker). This bulge of industry and at least one third of the entire human workforce, both blue collar and white collar, could be cut deep by the introduction of artifical intelligence into the …show more content…
The consequence of this action could lead to automation in lower paying jobs, thus displacing millions of Americans reliant on labor and service focused jobs. The field of artificial intelligence’s goal is to better the world through technology, yet we have failed to find a reasonable solution to job replacement due to A.I.. Although the jobs in the future that will be the first to go are those requiring minimal education, those of collegiate graduate could be under fire at the rate the artifical intelligence is growing. The end result of human advancement for artifical intelligence is not looking good, the overall concensus is that humanity will soon become secondary in all functions to the intelligent systems. This means loss of jobs and dignity, and does that really warrant creating technology like artifical intelligences? Artifical intelligence systems, at the rate that they are progressing, may one day replace us in our jobs, and that is the one reason to consider delaying or even halting the process

In Better than a Human: Why Robots Will-and Must-Take our Jobs by Kevin Kelly, the author voices his opinion about how robots will eventually replace humans in the workforce and how, according to the author himself, “The robot takeover will be epic.”(301). The article describes how all jobs from blue collar to white collar will no longer need to be done by humans, but yet gives no clear evidence or any information on how this will happen. The author doesn 't provide any strong supporting details to back up his claim and what make matters worse is that he contradicts himself further in to the reading saying how we will be working alongside with the robots as well. The article is completely one sided and doesn 't provide repercussions or backlash…

jobs could be automated within the next two decades. Sylvain Rochon says "which is considered a riskier position but if we know AI robots can take most of our jobs, it means they can run the economy wheel instead of us, providing needed basic goods to people while citizens receive basic amount of currency to trade for other things, and Sylvain Rochon says he welcomes the idea. I cant imagine if there is a mechanical glitch or for some strange reason that the system goes offline, can you imagine the catastrophe of planes falling out of the sky, cars and other means of transportation going hay-wire. The thought of Artificial Intelligence having rights, would be an immoral system of ethics that would deprive our rights as humans and lessen the demoralizing thought of erasing the need for…

In the past decade alone, the use of technology throughout society has increased dramatically. Technological advances have gone from being privileges to integral parts of the daily lives of a large population of the world. A shift towards developing artificial intelligence (AI) has occurred in order to increase convenience and efficiency of tasks and processes for individuals, businesses, and nation-states. However, unintended consequences have arisen alongside the rapid development of these technologies. Though some professionals discount these consequences, many experts in the field of AI are concerned regarding the severity of potential dangers that may arise from such advanced systems.…

Now that super-human AI seems plausible, some of us have become worried about safety regarding the future AI development. They typically come in two forms. The first concern is that due to our inability to understanding the technical issues involved in complex systems, an AI system may end up exhibiting behavior or achieving a goal much different than what the designer purported. If the capabilities of this system are super-human in most aspects, it may end up unintentionally being dangerous to humans. The second and perhaps the most popular concern is that even if the AI system does not derail from its purported goal and behavior, there remains the possibility that the designer may himself provide AI systems such goals that are potentially conflicting with the goals of some of us.…

In the article There Is a Blind Spot in AI Research, Kate Crawford and Ryan Calo explain how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already made in impact on our society. They urge readers to focus on how AI has impacted “social, cultural, and political settings.” While some of them effects are good, others are bad. It is easier now for doctors to diagnose illnesses, but doctors do not always use this information the right way; they may send home a patient earlier because they have a less severe illness than other patients. Also, “heat maps” generated by algorithms in Chicago and elsewhere do point out areas that have more crime, but…

In the article “Will Artificial Intelligence Eliminate My Job?” written by Rod Koch (Strategic Finance, 2017) the author examines the influence of Artificial Intelligence or AI to the labor force through a series of his experience and analysis. I enjoyed this article because it discusses AI, one of the hottest technology trend today. I find the article’s title is the same question that has been asked by many people, including myself. I certainly agree with the author about the impact which AI brought to us as he had said in his writing: “AI presents the forward thinker with a new opportunity to reskill and adapt for the future” (Koch, 2017).…

As technology continues to advance with every passing minute, it seems as if the idea of robots taking over human jobs, whether it be physical or intellectual, no longer seems too far off from reality. While it currently seems likely that machines are on a path to take over human jobs, many still feel uncomfortable with this becoming their reality. Kevin Kelly in his persuasive essay, “Better than Human: Why Robots Will-and Must-Take Our Jobs, assumes that his audience is anti-machine job takeover, and attempts to persuade his audience through the use of logos. Kelly heavily relies on logos throughout his essay, it becomes his crutch as there is insufficient amount of strong evidence that prove his claim.…

“I’ll be back” is what Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, and maybe, this time, he’ll be back with our Artificial Intelligence breakthrough. John McCarthy, which coined this term, defines AI as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines. " The idea of an Artificial Intelligence have been circulating around in history since the ancient Greeks; stories of Talos, and the bronze robot Hephaestus up until Steve Job’s Macbook said “Hello”. Many arguments have sprung throughout time against Artificial Intelligence, and we can find much opposition from a humane and moral side. However, on the contrary, the introduction of AIs into our society could improve our daily lives, careers, and make our industrial complex much more efficient.…

Many people can say without hesitation that mass unemployment will erupt as companies resort to cheaper and more efficient artificial workers. People like Elon Musk describe how the only way for people to stay relevant is by getting upgraded themselves, adding mechanical aspects to enhance our skills.
