There are many more scenes showing Henrys superego rather than his id. For example, after the gunshot Henry is brought home to try and bring a sense of normalcy back into his life, also to try to get him to remember his old habits. He not only begins to remember small things, but his relationship with his daughter completely changes. They start doing everything together and become best friends. When Henry learns the day has come for his daughter to leave for sleep away school, he doesn’t want her to leave. Henry had no recollection of agreeing to send her here. When it comes time to say goodbye it is very hard for Henry to do. Whereas, his id would have no problem sending her away. Before the accident the movie opens with a court case. Being a corporate lawyer, old Henry would do everything in his power to make sure he won the case. Even if that meant it wasn’t the right thing for everyone involved. This case comes back up later in the movie when Henry, prior to the accident, is reading over his old files. Henrys superego is telling himself that this case was not solved correctly, that he had left out a major detail that could’ve changed the outcome. Once Henry learns of his mistake, he makes a personal appearance at the family’s home to apologize for what he had done. The old Henry never would’ve done this and would’ve just moved on and accepted the money.
