Superbowl Video Analysis

The video I chose to share is the pepsi commercial for the superbowl. When watching the video, I notice that a male was is in charge. He was the king and leader of the whole ceremony. He seemed respected and in power. While the women were dressed provocative and were the entertainment for the night. It seems like they had no control, and were forced to fight among each other.

The message I see based on the media clip is that the man is in power. While the woman are there for entertainment. The woman seem powerless and are there just to look good and please the

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been a strong proponent of an NFL end-zone replay camera. As of now, there is no end-zone replay camera, rather there is only a sideline camera. Although the sideline camera gives replay officials a decent perspective of the football play being reviewed, the sideline replay camera is not always perfectly reliable and sometimes the replay officials make the incorrect call. Belichick believes that if there was an end-zone replay camera as well as a sideline replay camera, then the NFL referees would have another perspective when viewing a replay, which would make the NFL officials' play rulings both more accurate and precise. According to NFL owners and the league, Bill Belichick ranted endlessly…

    * Taylor Hauss - Russo - 8C - Superbowl Essay * The Super Bowl is one of the craziest times of the years that all of America seems to enjoy, but I myself don’t see what the big deal is. One of the reasons I don’t like the Superbowl is because of the commotion. Just as in Miss Representation, Tough Guise 2 evaluates the effect of a toxic gender hierarchy portrayed in American media. However, this documentary focuses more on the male experience and how constructs and scripts of masculinity can affect them throughout their lives. While girls contend with images of Barbie Malibu as the standard of feminine appearance, boys are shown a GI Joe with biceps that measure even larger than Dwayne Johnson’s as the ideal standard of physical masculinity. Additionally, the numerous manners in which violence is encouraged in men sprouts from everyday media like TV shows, ads, and video games. It promises men uncompromising control, dominance, and power over others in life, defining these traits (among others)…

On Friday night, the New England Patriots played the Detriot Lions in a preseason game. Even though the team won the game, the biggest story coming out of that game is not good news for the team. During the first quarter, Wide Receiver Julian Edelman suffered a knee injury when running a route and he had to be carted out of the game and did not come back. Last season in 16 games, Edelman had 91 receptions, 1,106 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns.…

The replay system that is currently being used in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and even the NHL, is under constant scrutiny by the media, fans, and even owners and players of the sporting leagues. The main question is whether or not the replay system constitutes as a fair or balanced review process of a human call or play. Does the usage of the replay system affect games and control too much of the outcome, to the point that it becomes cringe-worthy and notably unwatchable because of the delays and sometimes lack of knowledge from the staff using the system? NFL Instant Replay has changed the way the game is played and the outcome of many games has been decided by the review of video evidence.…

The Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl: Would they have made it? As of October 2015, a record of 12-4 would have certainly earned the Falcons a playoff spot, with perhaps a first round bye. Did that, however, mean that they were contenders for the 2016 Super Bowl?…

This year the the super bowl commercials I thought were very unique and different than previous years. For example, in the past years most commercials were very American oriented with a lot of classic american images being broadcasted. This year commercials ranged from being very American to unique and different. In a very broad sense, the target audience was 25-35 year old men and families throughout America. The commercials were a lot for beer, insurance, skittles and food/drinks which are all messages for a that specific group of people watching the superbowl.…

Living in a world filled with gender stereotypes, looking back at historical events can assist the modern day person in understanding the struggles and success’ experienced by the people who came before them. One of the most significant demonstrations that helped re-define gender roles was the Miss America Protest in 1968. Here, women from around the country gathered in Atlantic City to express their unrest due to the pageant and the meaning within it. This caused much conversation surrounding the feminist movement and the discriminatory view of women when represented in a beauty contest. Second wave feminism, which was the period of time between the 1960s and 1980s when feminist activity sparked in America, women from across the country joined…

While society has learned how to identify men and women based on what they see or hear on television, read in magazines and newspapers, and what we hear on the radio. Men are often portrayed as the strong, powerful leaders giving them a reputation to uphold. Women are seen as the weaker and more emotional, causing them to be more insecure then men. While both men and women offer a great variety of skills in society, the media and the government divide them on television and in print, therefore, the American people should fight for more say in what we hear and view from the media. Men often get picked apart for how they dress, what they drive, even their race, and what kind of profession they have.…

Marji and her mother see Mrs. Nasrine feeling down and ask her what is wrong. Lyrics like “My persuasion can build a nation” and “You will do anything for me” cast women in an inactive role even though they are supposedly in control. Rather than actually building a nation or doing things for themselves, these lyrics imply that women simply “persuade” others (presumably men) to do their bidding. This focus on passiveness comes from emphasized femininity, which stresses compliance and inaction for women (Williams Lecture, 10/20/15). The video also presents traditional stereotypes for men. The men of the rival group are dressed in military garb and wield weapons, representing the glorification of violence associated with hyper-masculinity.…

Perhaps the author is saying that war is the main point and that war just leads to destruction and men can’t end it. As a result it’s to up to the women to basically keep society in balance. The author wants to show that women suffer in war just as much as men do. But all city states are just to driven by greed and pride. In my view personally I feel as if the author did succeed in getting across his main points.…
