Film Analysis Superbad is a film that tells the story of three teenage boys in their last semester of high school desperately trying to gain sexual experience before going into college. Seth and Evan have been best friends ever since they were eight years old; they share a lot of memories together, but unfortunately Seth was not accepted into Dartmouth so they will not be going to the same college. Neither of the two boys is popular in their high school; they are considered to be an outcast. One day they were finally invited to a party by a girl that Seth really likes so he agreed to supply the alcohol. The problem was that Seth was not of age. He resorted to asking a nerd named Fogell who is going to be Evan’s roommate in college. Fogell recently got his hands on a fake ID. Seth’s plan …show more content…
How’s that? If you don’t buy the alcohol, I will kill you! Fogell: Killing me won’t get you any alcohol jerkoff! I’m the one with the ID!
Seth: Then I will kill you, cut off your ugly face, put it over mine, and buy it my fucking self.
Fogell: You don’t have the technology or the steady hands to pull off a procedure like that! Evan: Seth, calm down! Fogell, stop crying like a bitch and buy some fucking alcohol! Fogell: what? Evan: Man, I’m sorry, but we need this to happen, okay? This scene is an example of Fogell’s cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance can be described as “inconsistent cognitions arouses psychological tension that people become motivated to reduce” (Kassin et. Al 239). In other words, it is when your mind has two opposing thoughts. Once this happens we automatically want to reduce the dissonance by changing one’s actions, thoughts or attitude. Fogell is considered to be a nerd he usually does not do rebellious things like this. One part of his mind is telling to him to do it and the other part is telling him not to do it. Seth and Evan have a big role in reducing his dissonance and he finally gives in and does it

Time, time, time, never enough or too much, it speeds by in a flash of numbers and gets lost all in itself, as well as to everyone else. There was never, and will never, be enough to go around; this is a fast paced society, people needed results and they needed them then and now. High demand, high expectations, and high outcomes, it was always too high, so high, it was always nearly out of reach. Bobby Singer felt as if he was rushed more than he would dare admit, he may have been older but he was capable of getting things done at certain points and hitting his deadlines straight on the dot. Perhaps he was just needed too often, or maybe he just had a lot of time on his hands, but that didn't mean he didn't feel as if the world expected maybe…

The two part film series Kill Bill, directed by Quentin Tarantino, was released in 1994 and follows the storyline of Beatrix Kiddo, who seeks revenge upon her five worst enemies and presumed killers of her unborn child. On the surface, this film seems to be just a bloody, cut-em-up Tarantino film, but when a feminist critical lens is applied to the film, some things become a little more apparent, such as the underlying implication towards Tarantino's progressive viewpoint on women’s roles in society. The main antagonist, Bill, is the leader of the The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, which is made up of him, his brother, Budd, and three women (O-ren Ishii, Vernita Green, and Elle Driver). These women are seemingly under his control, and are…

Upon reading “Beloved” by Toni Morrison, readers are faced with the dilemma of whether to identify the character beloved as an apparition, a symbol, or simply a real person. It seems to be contextually supported that the character Beloved is an apparition of the past. Allowing supernatural activity to take over their suppressed memories of slavery once they have finally reached grounds of freedom. Beloved represents magical realism in literature as she forces readers to come to an understanding of what this character even is. Beloved is a difficult character to interpret due to the text creating conflicting representations that portray her as a symbol of the horrors of slavery.…
