The personalities of the two departments are greatly different. Although, you see more of the Highway patrol’s personalities more in the movie than you do the local department. However, the differences between them are highly noticeable. For example, the local police department tends to be a lot more serious just like your average police officer. While on the other hand, you have the state troopers who tend to be really relaxed, who also do not take their job seriously and joke around a lot. There were scenes where the troopers got into a bar fight with the local police and no repercussions seen after. Not to mention, the troopers pulling over people as pranks and messing with them for no reason at all. In addition, in one of the scenes one of the state troopers was making out with a German woman during a traffic stop which will never happen in an actual traffic stop. Less not forget, when one of the officers began to play a game he made up during a traffic stop. This game measured how many times he could say a certain word before issuing them a ticket. According to Marion 1998, police trainers in the academies are seen as intimidators, and even bullies which tend to be recognized as military boot camps to the public. So seeing that seen and my military experience I can see the similarities when it comes to hazing in the military and police force. Also, there was a scene where one of the troopers was ordering food and was getting agitated because he wanted a liter and not a large coke. also, he was being very unprofessional and using profanity to the guy taking the order. Not to mention, he was getting physical with. As a result, the cooks spit in his food and covered a hole in his beverage so when he removed the scratch off, it leaked. Even in the real world many restaurants do not like cops so they either spit or cause them a hard time and that conflict between them is viewed to be true even in this movie as
