The Super Mario Brothers and Pokémon titles belong to two of the most successful gaming franchises of all time. Both of these games have had a unique influence on the world from inspiring kids to be the very best or showing people what it truly means to be a plumber. Though their main series games are very different, they share many similarities in their audience. These similarities are what make these games loved by many people, but the differences help them stand out from each other. With the new releases of Super Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Sun and Moon it is time to compare these two notably well acclaimed game franchises.
Pokémon and Super Mario Brothers are under the ownership of Nintendo, a Japanese based gaming company. Nintendo is about family fun, and Super Mario and Pokémon embody that message. The original Super Mario Brothers game was released in 1985 on the Nintendo Entertainment System as a platformer. The protagonist is Mario, a plumber caught in the troubles of the Mushroom Kingdom. In the game, the player must jump through multiple levels and defeat bosses to achieve the final goal of saving the Princess. Throughout the many Super Mario games, many other characters have been introduced such as Yoshi, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool, also known as Princess Peach. These characters act as other players or helpers who aid the player throughout the journey. With these protagonists come the antagonists. The most famous antagonist King Koopa, also known as Bowser continually captures Princess Peach for his own.
