Sitting in the confines of the Miller's Ale House in Tallahassee, I positioned myself in perfect position: on the outside seat of the long, wood bench seat in perfect view of the matchup between the undefeated Green Bay Packers -- my team -- and the San Diego Chargers. In closer proximity was my feast. Nachos piled high with cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, chicken and salsa; cheese curds, a Wisconsin favorite and a tall glass of Angry Orchard hard cider. I set my self up dressed in my old-school, long-sleeved Ray Nietzsche jersey in honor of the throwback jerseys the Pack was wearing from the 1930's and 40's. Soon kick off was upon us.…

The Kansas City Chiefs have put themselves on the proverbial ropes the first 4 weeks of the 2015 NFL season, losing 3 out of those first 4 contests, two in heartbreaking fashion. It seemed a welcome reprieve would be the dysfunctional franchise from the Windy City, otherwise known as the “Monsters of the Midway”. The 2015 version of the Chicago Bears resembled nothing even close to your grandpa’s Midway Monsters. The Bears were weak at the wide receiver position, and quarterback Jay Cutler had missed half of the games already this year due to injury. The defense was suspect and the offense even more so.…

The football that we see in the National Football League (NFL) is the same as the Canadian Football League (CFL), but with different teams and rules. In the NFL, a team has four chances to get a first down (getting the ball ten yards), but in the CFL they only get three chances. Not only is the amount of downs different, but so are the amount of players on the field. In the NFL, there are eleven players on the field, opposed to the CFL, where there are twelve! In the CFL, they can fit twelve people onto the field easier because the field is bigger than the NFL’s field.…

Global Effects The Super Bowl utter dominance within the U.S. fails to translate onto the international stage. It is behind a number of sports, such as soccer, rugby, even cricket. It’s American-centric base excludes the rest of the world, as other countries are much more focused on sports where their own people are competing. Even when referring to the sport, one must say “American Football”, rather than just football, as the rest of the world uses that term for soccer.…
