Super Bowl LI Commercials

For anyone who remembers this year’s Super Bowl LI commercials or the conversation surrounding them, then they may remember that many advertisers decided to take on a message of unity and diversity within America in their ads. It could be assumed that this was due to the more recent trends of making sure that there is more diversity or potentially in light of the presidential election. Regardless of the intensions, Google was no different than other advertisers in that they too decided to make a commercial with a similar theme, featuring their Google Home Device. Despite the fact that Google decided to follow this trend, they did it quite well and in a fairly unique way that would most likely make many want to buy their product. The advertisement begins with the view of a bus driving down the road in the middle of a forest, and then switches to the sight of someone driving past a home with a rainbow flag, representing the LGBTQ community, and then goes to a woman getting out of a taxi late at night, and a dog eagerly looking out of a window wagging its tail. This is the type of advertisement that flips through quick, but heartwarming sequences to catch the viewers’ attention, while playing a whistled version of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The song choice adds to the commercial’s warm feel while playing in the background as families, friends, …show more content…
During this commercial people are asking their Google Home to do things such as, “turn on the lights,” “turn up the music,” and to answer questions such as “what sound does a whale make,” or “how to say nice to meet you in Spanish.” These may sound like basic questions and commands, but when combined with the music and images of people enjoying their time both alone and with family and friends it can be seen that these moments continue to build up the happiness that could be associated with the

Firstly, the ad creates a very somber mood due to covering a sensitive subject, the natural disasters of the past year. The use of the song “Stand By Me” is perhaps the most notable, as it is a slower and more soulful then the original song by Ben King, and that is surely not by accident. The ad also conveys a sense of seriousness in terms of the situation. The manager is seen as being very concerned upon receiving the phone call, and is quickly taking charge to move things quickly once he arrives at the…

Of all the 2016 Super Bowl commercials, the commercial I have concluded the most effective is the Hyundai commercial with Kevin Hart. However, effective is a subjective word in this case, but the criteria used in my perspective of it is that the commercial created a connection with the viewer, was able to be memorable, and set itself apart as more than “just a product”. Through a mix of storytelling, playfulness, and outrageous acts; Hyundai was able to achieve and surpass those criteria. The first thing that many people, from peers to big companies, pointed out about the Hyundai commercial was Kevin Hart. Hart is an extremely recognizable star for his hilarious comedy and his playful personality.…

Companies know they only have thirty to sixty seconds to make an impact on their viewers, and they have to devise ways to capture the attention of the audience. In the t.v. genre, commercials are created with the intended purpose of grabbing the audience’s attention and drawing focus to the product being advertised. Commercials can attract a person’s attention with a plethora of devices such as a catchy jingle, flashy pictures, and an upbeat intro with a memorable slogan ( i.e. “Shamwow!”). In Wells Fargo’s “Learning Sign Language” a lesbian couple is seen practicing sign-language, incorporating into their daily routines. The commercial wraps up with the couple being introduced to a young girl for the first time, and it turns out the young girl is being adopted by the women and she is deaf, validating why the moms-to-be were shown learning ASL.…

Nine months ago the Mr. Clean | Cleaner of Your Dreams commercial aired and it was a sensation. It has a strong appeal to pathos and logos but not a strong support on the ethos end. The timing, or kairos, for the commercial also played a big role in how well it did. The commercial stars Mr. Clean and another woman who he begins to clean with around the house. As simple as that may sound there are many intricacies that make this commercial an effective advertisement for it’s product.…

Then, the executives at Alexa corporation had various celebrities take over as the voice of Alexa. This went disastrously, and the commercial ended with Alexa getting her voice back, in order to help the users. Mac vs. PC After observing these Mac commercials, it was clear that they were taking clear shots at their competitors. I liked the humor they presented and how savage they were against the PC’s. I also like how they used Justin Long to play as the Mac which helped relate this to comedy for me because I’ve seen him in a lot of funny movies like the movie Waiting. I ended up watching all of the videos instead of just four…

The commercials playing during the Super Bowl drives the sales of alcoholic beverages and party materials due to the prices lowering and how quick stores sell out of the supplies. When Super Bowl occurs, many citizens become more intrigued by the commercials airing.. Most commercials are motivators to motivate people to spend their money on items or drinks they “need”. Farming and agriculture go hand-in-hand with hard work, and if the viewer of the ad thinks that purchasing a Chevy truck will be enjoyable and will help them to complete hard work, they are far more likely to do so. “Still plays with trucks” is an effective advertisement because it causes the reader to feel a sense of nostalgia and hard work. The “Still plays with trucks” ad uses a rhetorical appeal with pathos very effectively. The words “Some of us grew up playing with tractors and trucks, the lucky ones still do” make the viewer…

At the very beginning of this ad the music automatically sets an easy, comforting feeling. Every scene in this commercial has an emotional affect, but there are a few that significantly seem to impact the onlooker. For example, it is assumed that most families can easily relate to the scene of the couple coming home with the little girls asleep in their arms. In a different picture, a little girl runs into her father’s embrace who seems to be coming home. Later in the commercial another young girl is shown with her father reading her a storybook.…
