No one is thinking about the alarm that they have set for 6 AM or the long night ahead of them as they watch their team win in overtime. But, all this could be changed with the creation of a holiday which allows people to stay home. After a long day of preparing food, eating that food, drinking a lot, and watching the game until 11 because it's a nail biter and your team might actually come back from that 28-0 deficit, you just want to crawl into bed and sleep for as long as you want. With a national holiday, that dream can become a reality.
But, like every idea ever thought of, there are some drawbacks to this otherwise great idea of a Super Bowl Monday holiday. Also, just because it is a national holiday doesn't mean that private businesses must close. So even if the holiday is passes, you might still have to go in.
