Suny Empire State College encompasses a unique variety of ways to pursue a college degree that is affordable. In 2008 I enrolled and began my undergrad studies, but my ultimate plan was to attain a bachelor’s degree. I had the flexibility of attending face to face study groups, online studies and independent studies all while being employed full time. Knowledge attained from course work in Religion, Human Development, Sociology and psychology have truly impacted how I view life. The task was definitely not an easy road, hardship and obstacles were encountered and I wavered on my path of successfully completing my mission.
After completing 52 credits I transferred to American Academy McAllister Funeral Institute in New York City. At AAMI I began to pursue my

My plan is to utilize the Individualized Planning Assessment process to acquire the additional credits needed to complete my degree requirements. Under the guidance of a mentor I will decide upon a learning topic and then design degree plan and a portfolio conducive to my prior learning experiences. The acquisition of my Bachelor's degree will greatly enrich my educational background, allow me to make career advancement and achieve personal fulfillment.
Both life and employment experiences have greatly shaped and influenced the person I have evolved into. The day after Father’s Day June 2007 I lost my dear husband and my daughter lost her father to a malignant brain tumor (first experience with a hospice setting). April 2008 a cherished family member in law enforcement was violently killed during a robbery. Just when I started to pick up the broken pieces of my life February 2011 my world stop, the man that captivated my every being took his last breath in front of me, my dearly beloved dad.
