Did you know in 2001, 840,279 people were reported missing to the FBI's National Crime Information Center. The FBI estimates that 85 to 90 percent of those (roughly 750,000 people or 2,000 per day) reported missing were children? In the novel, The Cellar, the main character, Lily is taken from a small town called Long Thorpe. She is locked in a cellar for six months and meets three new girls. The book Sun-Kissed is about three girls living the dream in the Hamptons. I am able to relate three songs to different characters in these books.

First, Lily, the main character in The Cellar is a strong, and independent teenager. The song “Fight Song” correlates to her personality. After being locked in a cellar for six years she still does not give up her hope in finding her way out. The lyrics “Losing friends and I'm chasing sleep Everybody's worried about me In too deep Say I'm in too deep (in too deep) And it's been two years I miss my home But there's a fire burning in my bones Still believe Yeah, I

Her boyfriend isn’t like your average man, she’s living the dream on a yacht in the Hamptons his parents own. The song “California Gurls” corresponds to the personality Mara has. The lyrics “California gurls We're undeniable Fine, fresh, fierce We got it unlocked West coast represent Now put your hands up Ooh oh ooh Ooh oh ooh” relates to this character. Mara is a respectful young lady but kind of gives off the snooty attitude because of her lifestyle. “Last summer, as a favor to Mitzi Goober, the three of them had been featured in a ”Summer Girls” roundup in the magazine. Mara had been pictured on Garrett Ronald’s arm, stepping out of a Bentley” (De La Cruz 112). Mara, the main character in Sun-kissed is living on cloud nine.

There are many songs that could relate to these book but I thought mine fit best. I was able to correspond song lyrics to the characters personality

Although young Soto is aware he is committing a sin, the savory senses of the pie persuade him to steal the pie.
