Summers at the Lake
My family is not the type the goes on expensive or luxurious vacations to places like the Caribbean or Jamaica. We prefer pleasant and easy vacations together with all of our family members where we can have a fun time and spend quality time together. Vacations to the lake are like an escape from the outside world, a chance to see nature and enjoy the simplicity of life. We may be doing various activities such as fishing, barbequing, or competing in corn-hole competitions, because for my family, it does not matter where we are, or how much money we are spending, because we are always having a good time.

My aunt and uncle live in a beautiful dark log cabin right on the lake where we spend a lot of our time but since there are so many of us, most of my family members bring our large campers or some pitch tents near the lake about five miles west of the cabin. Even though our campers are separated from Pickerel Lake, my cousins and I generally spend all day at the lake near my aunt and uncles cabin. I have three cousins that are exactly the same age as me and two that are a year younger than us four. This closeness in age works out great since we all get along pretty well and all enjoy being outdoors and doing the same variety of things. I can remember when I was little, my cousins and I always staying up so late on the fourth of July lighting fireworks with most of my uncles. We would have so much fun when we were running around lighting off smoke bombs and throwing snaps into the fire. Of course, the fourth of July was always our favorite time of the year because being on the lake when everyone was lighting off the big fireworks was so much better than at home. Especially when so many other people living on the lake where lighting fireworks off too. That time of the year is always something our family is always looking forward
