Before I share why I’d absolutely do anything to attend Pratt’s precollege summer program, and why I think it will help me in unimaginable aspects, let me give the reader some insight about me and my life. I am a Jewish 16 year old boy who grew up and is still growing up surrounded and encompassed by Jewish life. I would never knock Judaism in any regard, I believe religion, for everybody, helps gain clarification or at least purpose for even those whom are completely uninvolved. I have changed since I was a kid. As a kid, born and raised in Canada, I attended an all boys, extremely strict private school that didn’t really care if you were different or had any talent whatsoever. Nothing besides religion was important to them. For as long as I can remember I was doodling, all …show more content…
To be honest, my 2 art teachers think I have a lot of talent, and while they may or may not be right, I believe I am lacking in basic skill sets that every artist should have. The precollege summer program will be so extremely beneficial to me that it is almost hard to put into words. I am an extremely dedicated and hard worker, and my art means everything to me, but I lack time. I’m honestly so nervous that I won’t have a full enough portfolio finished in the next year, to be able to get into my top-choice art school; the Pratt Institute of Art and Design. It is my dream to go to Pratt for design, and I think the Pratt precollege summer program will not only help develop the current love I have for the campus and the artwork being produced in school, but will also give me the understandings I need to excel in life in and out of school, when it comes to my artwork. I intend to grow this summer, I intend to explore art in ways I was never given the ability to do, and I intend, for the first time in my life, to give every single second of my time this summer to work purely on art during my time at Pratt’s precollege summer program, thank

I am interested in attending the Naval Academy Summer Seminar in the Summer of 2017, because I would like to be introduced to the rigors and challenges that all Midshipmen face while attending the United States Naval Academy. Although I have not received any STEM-related awards, being at the academy would afford me the opportunity to develop friendships with students from around the nation, develop teamwork skills and see what it would be like to push myself in physical and mental situations. Being accepted to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar would be a great honor, and would create opportunities that would help me mature into a Midshipman, that will eventually lead me to develop into a naval officer. Actually, I am still in the most challenging academic course I have taken to date, AP United States History (APUSH). APUSH has been difficult for me due to the fact that I had very little knowledge of US history preceding my enrollment in the class. Furthermore, prior to this class I had never really had to study extensively to maintain high marks. APUSH has been different. Having little knowledge of this material, I have had to spend much more time studying.…

As children, our parents shape our ideas and opinions. When I was a child I thought Texas A&M was the only university my parents would let me attend based on the way they talked about it. I thought that they would not help pay for my college if I went anywhere else. It was not until I was in high school that I realized that Texas A&M was the only university I wanted to attend. I would like to study at Texas A&M to continue my family tradition, for the opportunities it offers after graduation and to be admitted to the dental school with a great education behind me.…

As the school year quickly approaching an end, I want to make summer count by staying involved in academic enrichment programs. I have always looked forward to the summer break to be out of school with no studying and no homework, but this year, as I enter into high school, I feel there is so much I can learn during my two month break. At the OSU summer academy, I can sharpen my mind, learn new information and prepare for next year classes. This academy is an opportunity for me to boost my knowledge in technology, math, science and most interestingly, I hope sharpen my ability to read and predict human emotion to prepare myself for a debate class that I will take next year. I want to learn and explore logic and gain the ability to reason.…

There are many things in my life that I’ve done that I am rather proud of. These include volunteering, Boy Scouts of America, good grades, and others as well. But two things that stick out to me are being able to volunteer at Camp Hometown Heroes and being able to help organize and put on a scholarship fund. Camp Hometown Heroes is a free, weeklong, summer camp for the children and siblings of fallen U.S Soldiers. What’s unique about the camp is that the person who died didn’t have to pass away in action.…

I am a junior at Bowdoin College majoring in Earth and Oceanographic Science (EOS). In the 2018 spring semester I will be studying abroad with SEA Semester and completing a semester-long research project about carbon cycling in the sub-Antarctic Ocean. Although my major, earth and oceanographic science, has exposed me to plate tectonics, sedimentary systems, and biogeochemical cycling, I have focused my major mostly on ocean systems. Within oceanography I am most interested in marine nutrient cycling, ocean acidification, and water quality monitoring of coastal ecosystems. This past summer I conducted research through the Bowdoin EOS Dept. on a spectrophotometric method development to improve the accuracy and precision of pH measurements.…
