The Summer Scholars program will help me achieve my academic and professional goals by allowing me to truly experience what it will be like to go to medical school. This program will provide an immersive experience into the life of a medical student in a way that any pre-medical student can only dream of. My academic goals will be further developed and enhanced through this opportunity because I will be taking the same classes with the same rigor as a first year medical student. Not only that, but this program will assess my skills to figure out which areas of pre-medical courses I should continue to hone in on during my undergraduate years. Such vital qualities are determination, passion, and perseverance through the rigorous coursework that is associated with medical school. While college course work has prepared me for the basics of medical school, experiencing the life of a medical student will be a valuable subsequent step. This program is integral for my education, because it will help to build on my previous academic knowledge to prepare me for my future as a medical student. As I have hopes of entering medical school at Ohio University, the Summer Scholars program will help with getting acclimated with the rigorous coursework and the staff, way before I even gain a spot in the medical school. Additionally, I hope to build on my knowledge of research by further exploring what Ohio University has to offer in its medical campus. As I have been a member of the Social Psychology Research team at The University of Toledo for over a year now, my interests in research continue to grow. Conducting and understanding research as a pre-medical student is important because medicine is a dynamic element that is constantly being changed and manipulated.
