The medical assistant could try to distract the child with conversation to allow the mother to get the forms filled out. That may not work because the child is clearly acting out and destroying things so the assistant could be in danger if she got too close. Or maybe there is a room that the mother or child could go into so the mother could have a few minutes of distraction free time to get the paperwork filled out. The best option I came up with is for the medical assistant to take the family into a private room and help the mother fill out the paperwork. The mother could have ahold of her child while the assistant asks the questions and writes the answers.…

Diversity is being surrounded by people of different backgrounds and learning from their unique experiences and connecting with them. As a Resident Advisor I will develop a diverse and inclusive floor by promoting awareness of the vast number of different cultures and backgrounds present not only on the floor but in the building as well. I would also make it a point to ensure that every voice on the floor carries the same weight; even if their voice and opinion is in the minority, I want them to know that not being in the majority does not means that they are wrong. Furthermore, I want to bring in a speaker from the Multicultural Centre to discuss the social customs of a culture that is underrepresented. I would also take them to guest speakers…

In regard to being a Resident Assistant, it is more important to be well-respected. I think it's okay to be liked by the residents, but I don't think it should be to the point where they think they can take advantage of you and break rules. Just because someone is liked doesn't mean that they shouldn't be respected as well. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Most off the time, when someone is well-liked, it is because they are nice and easy to talk to.…

It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…
