Most kids hate summer reading. The books given to children for the summer are unrelatable. The children often choose not to the book they were given. Just because the teacher thought the book was a good read does not mean that the students will feel the same about the book. Children should be given the choice of what they want to read not what the teacher wants them to read.
Just because the teacher liked the book doesn't mean the student will like the book. Everyone is different not all people like the same things as you like and you won't like the same things as your teacher. Students should be allowed to pick the books they like the teacher should not be allowed to pick a student's summer book, likewise.
