The Importance of the Order
Summer reading was great this year. All the books I found were intriguing, some were a bit odd, but once I started reading, it was hard for me to put any of the books down. My favorite book of the summer was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. This book is about a boy named Christopher, and his investigation of a murdered dog. While investigating the murder much more is revealed about his life that he had never known. It was my favorite book of the summer since there was something exciting happening on every page. The multiple themes and mysteries throughout the book always kept me reading. I loved trying to figure out what would happen next because it was always very unpredictable. The

We are introduced to the importance in the beginning when we meet Guy’s wife, she is completely oblivious of the world around her and all she cares about is her television family. I loved this theme because for me reading had become something that was forced and was never fun. Something about this book got me to be excited to read again, for every time I picked up Fahrenheit 451 I felt like I learned something and I felt happy to learn. After reading this book I felt more focused on my books. I was absorbing more when I read for fun. It lets me connect with characters like Christopher and I started having feelings for the characters, for example, when Christopher was hit by his dad, I felt a rage toward the dad and I felt bad for Christopher because had done nothing to deserve being hit. Another example of the feelings I began to feel for the characters was in The Grapes of Wrath at the end where Rose of Sharon helped a starving man by suckling him. I felt really proud of Rose of Sharon, for it showed how much she has matured throughout the book. It was awesome for me to be able to see a character change and become a better

I liked how well the book developed along the way and how well the characters were developed like how Big Ma, Cassie’s Grandma, went over the past with Cassie when they were sitting by the lake by their house. “Big Ma surveyed the clearing without a word, then, stepping around the rotting trees, she made her way to the pond and sat down on one of them. I sat close beside her and waited for her to speak. After a while she shook her head and said: “I’m sho’ glad your grandpa never had to see none of this.…

Technology is ruining the ability to communicate with each other face to face. Without this ability, people are beginning to hide behind their social media platforms and this causes people to say things that are hurtful and damaging. The problem then is dangerous because we lose the chance to understand what is really happening and this causes us to do many things without the thought of consequences or repercussions. The society in Fahrenheit 451 is only focused on what effects them because of this they have centered their self around stuff to take their minds away from truly interacting with others. For example, the society in this book has parties just to sit around a television screen and watch the same thing together.…

Without Mildred overdosing we wouldn’t get a feel for hoe depressed and boring this society really is. Without the earphones, we wouldn’t understand how advanced this story is and the point Ray Bradbury is trying to get across of what is becoming of future generations. Lastly, without the hobos, this story would be boring, sad, depressed, and more of a surprise, and would give the story way less meaning. In conclusion, these three symbols play huge key roles in the story and “Fahrenheit 451” wouldn’t be what it is without…

The book, Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, and the movie, The Giver, directed by Phillip Noyce, each portray the story of a community that is trying to achieve or maintain a form of utopia. Although there are many differences in the way utopia is achieved and ultimately the way it falls apart, the peace and harmony desired from the utopian world is the same. In Fahrenheit 451, firemen are the people who have the job of hunting down and burning any books found in the community. In The Giver, there is no war, no crime, and no hunger; every person has a job and a purpose that is determined by the leaders to be the most suited for them. This essay makes a critical comparison between the book, Fahrenheit 451, and the movie, The Giver.…
