In the book, Summer of Secrets, Darcy Wills has become insecure. Because the book takes place at the same time as Blood is Thicker, Hakeem is still in Detroit, and Darcy is still hurt from her breakup with him. Beside her family now is her father, but she is worried about the tension between her parents. Unlike the happiness of having her father back, her grandma dies, leaving Darcy’s mother in pieces. After Hakeem and Darcy’s breakup, we later learn that Darcy attempted to have a relationship with Brian Mason; however, Brian went to far and sexually assaulted her. As a result of her father’s suggestion, Darcy now works at Scoops, an ice cream shop, where she meets Brisana, her old friend, who has changed and is now dating Duane Nye. Following
