Certainly, we all understand that under the circumstances the Summer Session is not the typical Summer School. We made some significant changes to the program and recommended that students meet with their instructors on June 20th and 21st to be proactive in setting up times for struggling students. Significantly, how do you eliminate entire sections of a class when you have not met with the student or have not assessed his work or work habits? Most importantly, this year we informed the counselors and the Special Education Lead at Serrano that students on IEP's needed to set up meeting to look at the independent component of the Summer Session because the courses would be difficult. We will not take out content that we do not know if they can or cannot work through. This is why we emphasize of getting into the lab if the student is struggling. We want to see what the student is struggling with and then modify accordingly. Realistically, we are not going to be able to suppress a whole semester into 5 weeks. We can teach specific concepts that the student does not understand in small portions. I know that everyone has different perspectives on this, but I have always felt that they need to have a Special Education class for students to attend on campus, like the traditional summer school with a teacher that is qualified in both regular and Special Education instruction, currently, our teacher will not take the time to make that our Special Education students are mastering key
