Summer In A Day Symbolism

Most people regret a lot of their life because of things they did. Sometimes it was even because they abused other person. In the story All Summer in a Day, the children on Venus were bullying Margot because she remembered the rare sun and they didn’t. So they locked her in a closet the day the sun finally came out. Although this satisfied them at the time, later after the sun left, they solemnly realized that they had left her in the closet and forgotten about her there. Margot had just longed to see the sun again, and the children had robbed her of doing so just to benefit themselves. This relates to anytime someone in the world has hurt someone else inside, and regretted it. The author carefully describes the longing of the children’s hearts, the hope from the sun, and the constant rain using detailed descriptions. The feeling of the warm sun and the downpour of the rain is shown strongly through descriptions in the story. To completely describe how depressing the continuous rain is and how the children feel about it, descriptions are required. The writing says, “..they always awoke to the tatting drum, the endless shaking of the clear bead necklaces upon the roof..and their dreams were gone.” Without descriptions, readers wouldn’t understand or fully comprehend figurative sections in the story. …show more content…
Symbolism may be a large part of the story, but the descriptions stand out more boldly. If there were no descriptions, symbolism wouldn’t be seen because the readers identify the symbolism from the descriptions. Symbolism emerges from Bradbury’s story because it has been explained carefully be the narrations. The opinion that Margot symbolises the sun is perceived from how Bradbury describes the relationship between the frail girl and the frail sun.
