Summer Bridge Reflection Essay

I knew that college was going to be a great deal of work because of the experience that I had during Summer Bridge. The Summer Bridge schedule was extremely packed with very little free time, which made it difficult to complete assignments. I frequently stayed awake into the late hours of the night in order to finish homework. Although my schedule is currently not as strenuous as it was during Summer Bridge, I still find it difficult to meet the expectations my courses. EDS 50 is the class that I am taking because it is a mandated component of my scholarship and it is also my least stressful class out of the four that I am enrolled in. Our instructor for EDS 50, Harry Simón, is a man that comes from a background similar to many of the CASP students. During the time of the course, he was able to provide insight into what the future may hold for many of us as students at UCSD. He expressed concern for us as a friend would, and he should be applauded for his great work. EDS 50 was not stressful as an independent course, but it did seem to be an excessive use of our time as students considering the majority of us have mandatory workshops to attend and an Oasis Learning Community that covered similar topics as this course. It means that I have been awarded the opportunity to better my life through education. For this opportunity, I am eternally grateful. As I continue to stress myself about homework and tests, and continue to do work that I despise doing, I must remember that I should be grateful for the opportunity to do such work. I should exhibit gratitude even though I feel unhappy when I put hours of my life into work that I do not truly care about. I do this work because I believe that it will lead to my happiness. A college degree holds value, and it may make the difference in what career I end up
