Now, here I am, a SSS Peer Mentor to students who are in the same shoes I was once in. It’s amazing to look back and see how far I’ve come, and how SSS has shaped me into a leader. Before this program, I didn’t have any study skills, time management skills, helpful resources, or anyone to push me to my greatest potential. To elaborate, I was able to see the behind the scenes of all of the hard work that is put into the program, I was able to encourage students who were losing their motivation for school to keep going, I was able to be a listener to students who just needed someone to talk to, I was able to be that person that students were able to confide it when they felt all alone, I was able to set goals with students and watch them reach them towards the end of the semester and lastly, I was able to contribute to the students’ success which of itself made me feel good
