Summer Bridge Advantages

Decent Essays
The Summer Bridge Program seems like an advantageous opportunity for me to gain experience collaborating with others while doing fundamental research. However, not only will I gain experience from this event, but I would also be able to network with other like minded students. I would be able to make connections that would open other opportunities for me. Additionally, I would also create and strengthen my research and observation skills. Strengthening these skills would promote critical thinking and leadership skills in the lab. Furthermore, the Summer Bridge Program would give me an advantage over other students who's research abilities aren't as potent. This would give me a higher chance of being accepted to medical school if it is required

“All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction short story. Bradbury included a one of a kind setting, superior characterization, and an ending that allowed readers to create their own, using their imagination. The setting was unique and I would have never thought of an imaginable place like Venus. Margot is a shy and frail young girl and we notice this when Bradbury describes that she is an “old photograph” and talks like a “ghost.” Over the years, good short stories and novels have been transitioned into movie adaptation.…

I am interested in attending the Naval Academy Summer Seminar in the Summer of 2017, because I would like to be introduced to the rigors and challenges that all Midshipmen face while attending the United States Naval Academy. Although I have not received any STEM-related awards, being at the academy would afford me the opportunity to develop friendships with students from around the nation, develop teamwork skills and see what it would be like to push myself in physical and mental situations. Being accepted to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar would be a great honor, and would create opportunities that would help me mature into a Midshipman, that will eventually lead me to develop into a naval officer. I have always wanted to join the…

I would like to attend the Davidson July Experience for three reasons. First, the resemblance to college life will prepare me for college by offering activities, and adventures that high school does not provide. College requires a lot of independence, and this program also requires independence in order to be successful, so it is a perfect learning experience for me. Second, I find the courses very interesting, such as the Hitler and Nazi course, and the Family and justice course.…

Jennifer, Our campus is a bilingual campus and even though I do not teach bilingual, our team works very closely with our 3rd grade bilingual classroom collaborating and planning to ensure all students receive proper instruction. I love that our ELLs receive instruction with the direction in their native language. Being a bilingual campus allows our bilingual parents to feel more comfortable on campus as well as building relationships with the faculty and staff. What a great idea for all ELL students to have the opportunity to go to the summer program that specifically aims to enrich their English learning experience and enhance their academic literacy. Our district provides a summer nutrition program for all students but what a great idea…

Tragic turn of life Loss, pain and suffering are stepping stones, slowly building and shaping an individual’s life. These tragic events help transform life, in sometimes drastic ways, that it has the power to mold and often determine one’s destiny itself. In the book, The Other Side of the Bridge, Mary Lawson incorporates this by demonstrating how tragic events continuously play a major role in shaping the destiny of the central characters. Despite the fact that traumatic events scar Ian Christopherson and Arthur Dunn for life, these incidents help them achieve what fate has set in store for them. On the contrary, such events cause a drift in the lives of two brothers, Jake Dunn and Arthur Dunn, defying whatever had been predestined for them.…

With my future enrollment in Tickle college of engineering, it tells me that all of my parent’s trouble are not wasted. The opportunity to prepare for college before school starts, seems like a very interesting opportunity. The Summer Bridge program will provide a great chance for me to experience life in college.…

Thank you very much for taking the time to read about my interests in your 10-week Microbiology Summer Undergraduate Research Internship found on the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine webpage. I am currently in my second year at North Iowa Area Community College where I will graduate with my Associate’s Degree in Science this May. I take great interest in your superior program because I would love to familiarize myself with U of I’s microbiology program, gain more knowledge in the field of biological research before continuing my education this fall, and because of my extreme passion for the biological fields. I would also benefit greatly from this program because of the lack of research opportunities I am exposed to at my current community college. In my college career which has been around 4 years now, these first two weeks are the first of any trimester or semester that instead of being enrolled in classes, I’m enrolled in an internship. This is definitely a change from the norm but at the same time it is exciting as well. It gives me the opportunity to use or observe some of the material that I have learned so far in my classes at Johnson & Wales in a real scenario. This internship allows me as well to gain much needed additional experience in the sports and athletics industry and will give me a more holistic view of the athletic program. It will allow me to see many different roles and see from various projects what parts of athletics I like or dislike since I am overall still open for the future to a variety of roles in the sports industry…
