Around the U.S., schools everywhere have been switching to the year-round schedule, one with no summer break, yet more frequent brakes. Many people feel Florida should switch to it too, and that is the smart choice, for less memory loss and refreshment. Although more people enjoy the log summer break, they lose some memory of what they did before it. To begin with, memory loss over summer break is very high. Some kids can only remember a major low amount of what they learned before. This is because they feel they don’t need to remember what they learned and some only can remember their fondest summer memories. With more frequent breaks, there will be less of that because you have less time to forget. “Frequent breaks are important …show more content…

Refreshment is key to good learning: Too long with a break and too long without a break could result in bad responses to learning. On the other hand, people like to have a long break and take advantage of the summer. Although this may seem like a smart idea, the bad parts are more clear than the good parts. Instead of a ten-week summer vacation, in which information is difficult to retain, we would instead have a four to six-week vacation period, creating frequent and smooth rolling breaks throughout the year. Lessening the need for longer review periods within the beginning of the school year. Allowing for a more regularized, stress reducing break system for not only for student, but for staff as well (Yeager, "Year-Round Education Program Guide."). Stress can often put a damper on our productivity and have detrimental health effects if not…

According to year round school “struggle to remember skills content” the analysis is when students return from summer breaks they struggle to remember skills and content , this evidence supports my argument because it 's true when students return from their summer break they struggle with their learning because they were to busy thinking about other things besides school and their education. School stresses students out because they have other stuff to worry about, they have to worry about homework, essays, and their family issues at home that 's way too much stress on…

Year round schooling is another way to have kids get more education. First of all, some people find kids to learn more things outside and on vacation from the outside world than in school. This proves that year round school is a type of education that helps students learn better and faster because kids learn lots of things outside of school according to studies and year round school adds even more breaks giving kids even more time to learn things outside of school. There are other things that proove year round schooling is helpful to students on the education side such as “tests show about 2.6 months of learning is lost during the summer, and year-round schooling is a simple solution, according to an article on National Association for Year-round Education’s website. This explains how there is a big benefit in education from year round school because of how kids don’t lose what they learned during very long breaks and instead become better educated and get better grades.…

As stated in the previous paragraph, there is proof that students lose valuable academic skills during a traditional summer break. This results in an average of four to six weeks at the beginning of a new school year in a traditional schedule being spent reviewing the previous school years material. When in the year round program the short breaks allow for students to retain their academic skills, resulting in less time reviewing and more time spent learning new material. In fact this increase time spent learning new material showed that year round schools had a 2.79 higher math gain and 1.61 higher reading gain over traditional schools. This is critical because first off many students quickly bore while learning old stuff and this may be connected to the 3% higher dropout rate in traditional schedule schools then year round and also less time spent reviewing may play into the higher attendance rates in year round…

According to the “On Summer Loss” (n.d.), there are certain cases of retention loss that are dependent upon grade level and subject matters where students can lose up to two years of their education, and that is just in their first five years of instruction (“On,” n.d.). School officials are trying desperately to find solutions to this problem, and they believe that year-round education may be one of them. Year-round education will allow less times for students to forget curriculum, for there would be smaller periods of no instruction. Weaver (1992) comes to say that “The most popular YRE [year-round education] calendar is the 45-15 plan, where students attend school for 45 days and then go on vacation for 15 (para. 3). This is a very reasonable schedule because these fifteen day breaks can occur on any holiday or religious event that schools may need to set aside for families to participate in, and these breaks will also give students time to clear their head and relieve all the stress they had built up.…

No one wants to give up their summer break for anything, especially school. Children enjoy their summer, it is the time they can do whatever with no interruption, like run outside all day, swim, or hang out with friends. Many teenagers have summer responsibilities, bailing hay, for example, is an all-day activity and is easier to start in the morning so it is not too hot and teenagers cannot bail hay for their parents or some old man who needs help if they have to be at school. With no teenagers making hay, for old men who need help, who is going to do it? Summer is also a time for families to visit other family members out of state or go on family vacations together, they cannot go on vacation with school taking up that time.…
