Summative Essay On Child Soldiers

In foreign countries children are constantly put in danger of being blown up or shot repeatedly to death. Why are these children put in so much danger you may ask. The answer is that foreign countries and revolutionary groups often let children join their armies. Even worse is most of these groups purposely kidnap children for their armies despite the legal age to serve being 15. When these children are captured and taken to be put on trial for their crimes a great debate arises. Some people say that since they are children and did not fully understand what they are doing they should be given amnesty. In ¨Summative Essay Child Soldiers¨ the article talks about how child soldiers would be given drugs to transform the children into doing these horrible things (“Summative Essay”, 1) 4. These drugs were ordered to be given by the commanders and shows that the commanders are responsible because they are the ones giving orders and trying to transform these children. In ¨Summative Essay¨ the article mentions the commanders will give children promises of food and money if they join but they do not keep those promises (“Summative Essay”, 1) 4. This is the commanders making promises that they cannot keep because as a result of these false promises the children will join their armies. In “Maybe We Live and Maybe We Die” mentions how militaries and extremist groups do not really do background checks and just let the children join while saying they do not accept children (“Maybe We Live”, 1) 3. This shows that the commanders are purposely avoiding checks because the do not care and want the children in their army which again shows it is the commander's fault because they are purposely being irresponsible to get children in and use them, this just shows who really is responsible for the evil actions of the child
