Weekly Reflection #1
My biggest take-away from the readings is the author talked about nonprofit competition with For-Profit Businesses. With the development of profit corporate company, nonprofit and voluntary sector faces a lot of challenges and raises difficult questions of strategy. Author analyzed some biggest disadvantages when nonprofit against with profitmaking company. First, nonprofit organizations always don’t have enough budgets and most smaller organizations don’t have enough expectance to deal with the technology and management problems. Second, for-profit businesses can attract the best talent human services officials because they can offer a good salary compare to nonprofit. Therefore, nonprofit will face some questions about

Without the capital or revenue, the not for profit sector will never be able to run as an organization. For a not for profit organization to run successfully, there are different roles that are needed for an organization to run such as fundraising, policies, strategic plan, a communication plan and many more. But each one of these need finances to ensure that the not for profit sector is running successfully. This Week Journal Stanley This week lecture, presentation was interesting. It is because it one of the things that I have been battling with most of my life. Having a guest speaker walking into the classroom to talk about the same topic titled “Time Management” that I never have answer to all of my life really amaze me. Paying active attention to the presenter really changed my perspective about how I view things, especially when her introduction was a song from “Mission Impossible” movie. That alone was outrageous because of how I was feeling about things that was never impossible for me to attain.…

A nonprofit and a for-profit organizations have manifold sameness and numerous dissimilarities. Likewise, marketing process conflicts with a prevalent contradictory feature being that the intention of a “for-profit” marketing is to encourage customers to buy, while the principle of a “non-profit” marketing is frequently to persuade people to give for social good. This is to say, the return on investment engenders a genuine conflict between the two forms of organizations. Even though the doctrine of marketing remains constant, the methods are quite distinctive.…

The identification of nonprofit and for profits can be identified by different classifications. The organizations operate by the same rules and regulations, but differentiate by tax exemptions and the utilization of profit margins. In conducting an analysis on one provider from both for profit and nonprofit, I chose the Community Health Systems and Kaiser Permanente. Both organizations are at the larger end of the spectrum in their respective business classification. Each organizational foundation presents strengths and weaknesses from a patient, provider, administrator and third party payer’s perspective.…

Charities or not for profit organisations are often faced with many internal and external challenges which can be unique from profitable businesses as their key business focus is based on philanthropy rather than profit. For each identified challenge there must be a strategic analysis to enable strategies to be developed to mitigate the risks these pose to the business. Each of the three levels of strategy must be carefully assessed to determine the different consequences and both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods must inform strategy formulation to meet the identified challenges for the organisation. The Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is a not for profit organisation and they state their mission…

    Frumkin Nonprofit Summary

Often the problems that nonprofits face, lack of funds, or lack of ability to help as many as need it, can be solved with the change in perception of nonprofits. Frumkins text is a classic case of assumptions about nonprofits. It gives the most obvious types and styles of nonprofits. Frumkin in the conclusion of his book states that nonprofits are heading towards self-destruct. The sheer number and variety of nonprofits have made it where they all vie with each other and society can’t keep up, but the number of concerned citizens, not only in the United States, but also in a growing number of countries around the world contradicts that theory.…

The legacy project Dominic and I made was purposed to change the environment of the school. There are many development factors that coincide with such project due to the effort put into the spirit week. Additionally the project was aimed for adolescents who currently go to Western Technical Commercial school. The reason why we tried to tackle such age group was because of how we were determined to make Western Tech a better school in spirit and unity. Dominic and I noticed that there is a lack of school spirit and unity, even when creating a survey for other students they thought that “there [also] is no school spirit” (Presentation).…

Choosing biology for me was just like pulling out my favorite hoodie to add to my daily outfit. Biology has always interested me, and I have always tried to choose a science that has some relation to biology and it’s contents, but that is difficult being that certain sciences are required in order to graduate. As I looked over the list to choose my final science credit, I was drawn to Anatomy and Physiology immediately, knowing that this class was going to be the one. Although Anatomy and Physiology are not exactly like biology, I get to use things I learned my freshman year in AP Biology to help further my understanding of the human body, and gives me deeper insight as to how the body should function.…

My worse grade happened during the spring semester of my senior year, while taking evolutionary biology course. The course had close to 400 students with two professors rotating. It was the professor responsible for the second half of class that I encountered more trouble with. It might have been the fact that I was not able to translate his methods in class, or the fact that my studying style was incorrect, because I could not perform well on the exams. This was reoccurring throughout my last semester of undergraduate studies, and was a very important learning opportunity for me, because I felt that I had failed my standards and knew I should have preformed much better.…

Whenever you receive my final transcript from the University of Alabama, you will notice I received a grade of a “D” in one of my final courses. This is the first and only class in my life I have ever received a grade lower than a C- in. I have a genuine explanation of why I have done so poorly in this class for the semester. I had an emergency surgery in November and was in an excessive amount of pain that lasted until December, which caused me to miss a lot of days this semester. My professors worked with me to help makeup a few things that I missed, but I found myself unable to focus and do my best with all that I was going through at the time.…

1 Introduction Public private partnership is when government forms partnership with the private sector, through this partnership activities that were done by the government are now being done by the private sector, and services that were delivered by the government are now being delivered by the private sector, however this does not mean that government does not play a role in the activities done or services delivered, but the government will oversee the quality of the service delivered or the activity done. Public private partnership does not only involve the delivering of public service, but can also include the improving national infrastructure, for example the upgrading Chris Baragwaneth hospital, which is one the biggest hospital in the…
