we need $17,820 to start our project. We will begin by purchasing an RV for $5,000 then we need $10,000 to customize it. Customization includes two showers and a sink per truck. We would also need a generator for warm water, soap and towels for sanitation.

Every week we will have volunteer staff from state farm, students and church members. We will supply everyone with a bar of soap, clean towel and about 8-9 minutes of shower time. on Sundays We will provide an estimated one hundred weekly showers at homeless shelters around the Dallas area averaging about $2.00 per shower.

In November, a New York police officer named Larry DePrimo bought a homeless man a pair of boots for the winter. The homeless man was later found to be a panhandler who would rather live begging on the streets than let anyone help him. In the article "Holiday Compassion Can Hurt". Micheal Medved tells readers that it would be better to donate their money to an organization, rather than giving it to just anyone on the streets . I would agree with the author in saying not to trust random people with the money we give to them.…

DESCRIPTION: Pulling up to the Dorothy Day Center the first time, was a shocking sight. There were so many people waiting for the doors to open for the night. I never realized how many people in the St. Paul area relied on Dorothy Day to receive a meal or to have a safe place to sleep for the night. Many of the clients waiting outside carried bundles of bags, luggage, and carts teeming with their possessions.…

This nonprofit will bridge the gap between homeless shelter feminine hygiene product supply and need. It will provide the positive support that women who are homeless desperately need to feel safe and supported. This organization will start by partnering with S.A.F.E House and submitting grants to receive grant funds to support the organization. Because S.A.F.E House supports over 1,000 women and their families, the organization will budget for at least 500 units of reusable feminine hygiene products for homeless women; this will allow the organization to serve most individuals who menstruate at S.A.F.E.…

I will not need a permanent facility for my organization. The first facility I would contact is the First United Methodist Church in Starke, Florida because I am a member there and I have many connections and friends there. I am confident my church will donate their facility for my organization, however, if they are unable to, I have allotted money in the budget for the rental of a space, or I would contact other local churches. An essential component in initiating my organization is to make a date when this camp will take place.…

Why can society spend countless, pointless dollars on meaningless objects, but cringe thinking about donating a dollar to someone in need? By definition from the McKinney Act of 1987, a homeless person is one who does not have a fixed residence to sleep at or who has a fixed residence that is a supervised shelter (Homeless Needs para 1). During the winter of 2014, there were 49,933 homeless veterans living in the United States. Forty-nine thousand, nine hundred and thirty-three people struggling to live on a day to day basis that deserve to live in luxury and honor (Fact para 1). Approximately one out of every three homeless men is a veteran (Homeless National 1).…

I would get permission of the authorities, and go talk to a hospital and see if they are interested in this project. Also, I think once a year, we could send care packages to veterans, and wounded soldiers. I think this would be a great service for those fighting for our country. If this is a possibility, I would try to go to an organization that sends donations to our soldiers, and ask them if they would want to go about this project. I would try to get donations from various students, and companies with the help of some other members.…

With that growing number of homeless people there needs to be a plan on how to accommodate them so that they are still being taken care of because the homeless are the ones who are most affected by physical and mental illnesses. According to David Maness “Homeless persons are more likely to become ill, have greater hospitalization rates, and are more likely to die at a younger age than the general population” (Maness 2014). Some of the biggest illnesses the homeless face is cardiovascular disease, mental illness, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, and skin and foot problems (lice and athletes foot) are things they face and need help getting…

This is mostly because of their unkempt and menacing appearance. Even the homeless are not happy with their looks and the aggression portrayed by a number of them, is due to their dissatisfaction with their unclean looks and lack of personal hygiene. These are some of the issues a daily shower will address if Living Spring Foundation is granted this award and implements the shower project. We will offer warm and cool baths, encouraging the homeless to come at least twice a week to daily.…
