The mock press release from The Onion satirizes how products are marketed to customers by hyperbolizing the advertisement along with the featured customers’ reaction to the product. “‘What makes MagnaSoles different from other insoles is the way it harnesses the power of magnetism to properly align the biomagnetic field around your foot.’” This statement seems like the advertisers are trying to ‘hype’ up the product, hyperbolizing it so that these MagnaSoles appear more than they actually are. “Only MagnaSoles utilize the healing power of crystals to restimulate dead foot cells with vibration biofeedback…” definitely exaggerates the abilities of the soles; furthermore, these hyperboles satirize real commercials. The Slants have a very good chance on winning this battle, due to their proud and positive definition of the word. The Supreme Court will probably justify that the Lanham Act is going against the First Amendment and is ruining the band’s freedom of speech. Due to their name being more of a favorable meaning than the anticipated racial slur, the court will rule with “The Slants”, as they will see the band is trying to do good and transform this into a positive badge. This case although, may not be the landmark case that all the professional teams are hoping for. Even though The Slants may be able to get away with this, this case will not help out any of the other trademark disparagement cases.…

Specifically, the lower the expense accrual, the lower the warranty expense, and the higher his bonus. (The evidence indicates that Bly has tended to overestimate warranty expense in prior years.) 2.…

I come to this work as a graduate of the 2002 class of the Detroit Public Schools (DPS). My experiences as a student activist in the district has shaped my subsequent life experiences and academic research interests. Though traditional educational research methods have emphasized neutralizing personal bias in research design in order to achieve an imagined objective viewpoint, this dissertation has been intentionally developed in relation to my experiences in the city and its schools. Further, this relation afforded me numerous opportunities that advanced this work that otherwise would not have been possible. Rather than represent a limitation of this study, recent scholarship highlights how mutually constitutive relationships in research contexts…

As a black man, I’ve heard my parents tell stories of being denied service in restaurants, of being turned down for apartments, and other experiences in the general racial climate in America during the 1960s. By all accounts they were too focused on immediate survival to worry about such things that were outside their control, but it must have been a difficult time. Yet surprisingly despite what today would be considered withering racism, in general, somehow back then black people were better off relative to whites and other races than today when there is a black president in the white house. How can this possibly be?…
