Summary: The Outside Sales Representative

Decent Essays
The Outside Sales positions that I read on Monster.com were very interesting and had differences that I was not expecting. Before this assignment, I often thought sales positions were alike. Thus, my assumption was if you had a silver tongue the salesperson can sell an individual the moon. The three listings were Outside Sales Rep, Territory Manager, and Route Sales Manager. The position all required excellent communication skills along with excellent organization skills which are in line with what I read in the textbook. The Outside Sales Representative in South Dakota requires a willingness to relocate if necessary. The position also requires persuasiveness, adaptability, and the ability to manage workload. He wasn’t the sales representative that I had seen in class on the movie Second hand lions, yet he is someone who works with potential customers and previous customers hands on to demonstrate many things.…

Job advertisements are crucial for gaining potential employees as they can be put up anywhere and convey a positive message to potential candidates when done in a manner that shows people a professional image of your company. This is important as the first impression given out by a company can most likely decide whether that individual wishes to join that particular company. Internal adverts are when a company decides to replace a member who has been terminated or left with a member from within their own company. Internal advertising can help to ascertain whether an employee within the company has the necessary skills and qualifications to sufficiently perform the required job vacancy. External advertising is when a company decides to look for a potential candidate to fill a vacancy within their company.…

To confirm that the supervisor’s claims are true, I would contact the sales department and request a record of Jeannette’s sales as well as the department's sales for the past six months. I would compare the data of all sales focusing on how Jeannette’s sales differentiated from the rest of the team. I would request the same date from the supervisor comparing both sets of data for accuracy and to ensure both sets of data match. I would carefully review both sets of data and make a determination from there. Finally, I would request that all discussions remain confidential by all parties.…

The question as to what success really entails and how it is achieved is profoundly explored and critiqued in Arthur Miller’s 1949 Pulitzer winning play, Death of a Salesman.
