SUMMARIZE: Since my last entry, my group worked together during our final weeks of this class. First, we did our last ultimate reward challenge together. Even though we lost, we still had a lot of fun. Jacie built a puzzle while being blindfolded, and Lily used her nose to grab Vaseline and cotton balls. After that, Eli tried to eat an Oreo with his facial expressions, and I tried to transfer 20 M&Ms to a different bowl with a straw. Lastly, Annabel attempted to blow a bubble with her face full of whipped cream. If I was not in this class, those sentences alone would get me to register for it immediately. Beside our last challenge together, we prepared for our Final Group Council Presentations. Jacie, Lily, and Annabel’s schedules grew hectic …show more content…
The One Hit Wonders has passed the ending and adjourning phase of our Small Group Communication class (Myers and Anderson 34, 94). Before presenting our final presentation, we became a very cohesive group that fell into groupthink a lot (Myers and Anderson 35). In setting up our last practice meeting, we all had consensus on when to meet and what day (Myers and Anderson 36). After leaving our last meeting, I felt communication satisfaction; I was fulfilled in the work we have done and the communication between my group (Myers and Anderson 36). Nevertheless, I wondered if Eli felt any loneliness on his part (Myers and Anderson 37). Our group improved our communication, and we made sure to ask Eli for his opinions on many things. We specifically called him out on group chats with “Eli, are you okay with this?’ to make sure he has a role in group decisions. He still did not open up as much, but I think that his communication with us has improved a lot since the beginning of the …show more content…
There will always be that level of uncertainty in a zero-history group because you do not know if you have “good” or “bad” members. At first, I was scared about how my group would turn out, but after making through 10 weeks with them, it really was not bad at all. I am glad I had this experience to grow with my group. If all my group projects turned out like this one did; group projects really are not bad at all! Moving forward, I still text some of our members and am FaceBook friends with Jacie and Annabel. Jacie said she will still pop around, so we can always find her. I have not seen Lily and Eli since our last class presentation, but we will see how everything goes! In the end, I think we all left on a good

For the final quarter I was the illustrator. I drew a picture of Nicolas and Noushcka being reconnected as they walked to Raphael’s funeral. We all learned about the importance of this scene and the events it led to. Overall, the quality of my work was well done and I was happy with the majority of my findings. With having such a small group we were all able to contribute and learn something from each other which helped us to succeed as a Lit Circle…

In “The Rise of the New Group Think,” Susan Cain argues that solitude has more benefits to the work space, than working in a group. In our culture, the work environment, as well as schools use the power of collaboration, more than solitude. Cain states the pros of solitude, while using a few pros and cons of working with others. My experiences have proven the argument Cain conveys.…

Though Rheingold mention there were a few issues of the absent of ties and limitation of new information, I see the benefit of communication in a group in my daily life. In the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), everybody knows each other’s. Over 200 students , we all remember each other faces and name because we all participate in the opportunities AFRTOC has to offer. However, we all follow this “Chain of Command” in which we are organized by our job status.…

Personal Narrative rough draft : Car accident It was early in April of 2016, sunny and beautiful, the day was sure to be full of excitement and energy as student council speeches are due and the final trimester of the year was slowly coming to an end. I woke up that morning to my mother blissfully waking me up with my light turning on and her sweet beautiful voice saying “Wake up, Joey,” I slowly rolled out of bed and stumbled into the shower trying hopelessly to escape the morning and the horrible sensations of waking up early on a Wednesday. As the warm water rushed over me I rehearsed in my head how I would present my student council speech to my teacher. Little did I know how different it would actually be that day.…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

In Tuckman’s beginning stages of group development, he explains how individuals may feel levels of anxiety, fear, confusion, curiosity and/or enthusiasm (Kass, 1996). In line with this theory, before beginning the icebreaker, the leader should try to help reduce feelings of anxiety by encouraging group members to be spontaneous. Assure the group participants that they do not have to worry about their originality, it will flow naturally. The goal is to be able to express their own uniqueness and style by creating the first idea that occurs to…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…
