Marijuana can have a negative impact on many parts of the body.
Nora D. Volkow, a director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, says that the chemical “THC gets into the bloodstream, which carries it to other organs in the body.”
Once the chemical reaches the brain, it starts to over-activate certain parts of the brain.
This can temporarily lead to: altered senses, changes in mood, impaired body movement, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, impaired memory, hallucinations, delusions, and psychosis.
The THC can also have a long-term impact on the development of the brain.
Marijuana can impair an individual’s thinking, memory, and learning functions.
The brain can no longer make connections between the areas necessary for these
