According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, abortion defined is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation--miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at any time before completion of pregnancy.” Abortion is one of the most controversial topics. According to The Morality of Abortion by Dr. Curtis Boyd, he agrees with pro-choice. Being able to choose whether or whether not you would like to go through with abortion is up to you. He states, “[t]he one saved is the medical safety of the woman choosing an abortion. With that, she entrusts me, and others who, like me, believe that women are their own moral agents.” That woman is their own moral agents and they should be given the option. Before agreeing to go through such a risky procedure be sure of the risks and do your information before assuming that this is the right decision for you. I am all for women’s rights and I do believe they should be able to determine what they want to do with their body, but some women do not fully comprehend the risks of abortion. Also, abortion is not the only option that women have to consider. Another option could be adoption and give that child the chance to have a life and parents who truly love them.
