As modern technologies improve drastically over time, the physical distance between people has begun increase. People are more dependent on emails, cell phones, and telecommunications; however, forgetting to slow our steps and to think other people's situations into our consideration as what we have done before. Therefore, the sparks of humanity appear to become more and vivid. Again Watney’s experience shows the power of kindness. He says, “If earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it’s found in every culture without exception.”, which reminds me of a memory that I would never talk about it; 2008, China. An earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.9, took place in Sichuan province. As the result, thousands of people died innocently. Later, the city’s government started to organize donations and most people were willing to help, making me very relieved. From my perspective, kindness is all about integrity, honesty, generosity, moral courage, etc. It is all about how we treat others and make it so much easier when we are embracing the hardship in our life. As well as, Watney’s lines remind me about a quote by Deepak Chopra, “Enlightened leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology but as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused
