How can a natural plant that has no chemical substance be illegal? Why is it that twenty-four states have already legalized it for medical purposes and recreational use? Cannabis, which is known by the name of Marijuana, is a natural herb that is used worldwide everyday by not only teenagers but also adults and the elderly. You might be thinking well what is cannabis exactly? According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse they have said Marijuana is a “basic extracts to treat a disease of symptom”. In other words defined as “the dried leaves and flowering tops of the pistillate hemp plant that yield THC”. Marijuana is known for many beneficial reasons the most important is medical benefits, the increase on tax revenues, and because it is a natural herb. It can help multiple disease such as: cancer, glaucoma, Crohn's disease, and weaken diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The journal Medical Marijuana was written by Peter Cohen the benefits of medical marijuana on a cancer patient. I chose this journal because the patient had colon cancer specifically; in 2014 I lost my mother to colon cancer. During my mothers sickness she was prescribed medical marijuana and it really did help her a lot, but due to the fact that she had stage four cancer her cancer was very aggressive and she was prescribed it very later into her treatments. Not only will it be helping patients get better, but also it could help double tax revenues. Taxpayers spend $10 billion per year to enforce marijuana prohibition, but if legalized according to Miron, Marijuana could save up to 7.7 billion dollars in government expenses and up to 5.3 million in state expenses (2003). Besides it doubling tax revenues and helping patients we fail to realize that it is an all-natural
