The reason why so many bees are disappearing is due to stress that people put on them. For example, in the article “The Head-Scratching Case of the Vanishing Bees”, Clyde Haberman states, “ There is, too, a possibility that honeybees are simply overworked. From season to season, colonies are routinely trucked around the country to pollinate crops. It just may be, some specialists in this field say, that the bees are like many modern workers: They are stressed, and get tuckered out”(par 9). This means that people make bees work to hard collecting pollen that they wear themselves out. In addition Haberman goes on to say, “ Two decades ago, the United States had more than three million colonies; now it is down to an estimated 2.4 million...”(par 12). This means that the population in bees are decreasing dramatically in the past decades.
