The greatest influence of the Union being victorious in the war was the economic prowess of the Union. The Northern states were the dominant industrial force in America, meaning their economy was much more advanced and well developed than the Confederacy. The Confederate economy was more focused on agriculture rather than industry making the economy significantly primitive in compared to the Union’s. Another powerful economic benefit was the Union had control over the border states, meaning they had almost monopolistic control over the primary railroads and water trade ways granting them the ability to better transport goods. Of course the Union had the backing of other nations, specifically Britain and France, who poured money into the Union
