Each appeal is displayed in an ad, and that appeal works for each one respectively. Many agree that advertisements are giving viewers the wrong idea on the product that’s being sold. However there are others that advertise the product who say that they are just trying to make the product well known by using or doing things that people will find interesting. Campbell’s Campaign Most advertisements seen on television compel viewers to buy a company's product. These companies have strategically created commercials that will not only persuade viewers to choose their product, but it also makes them feel bad, if they pick differently. The targeted audiences for commercials vary depending on the product being promoted, for instance if a toy is being advertised children would be the targeted audience, but a commercial for trucks would lean towards the middle aged man. The Campbell's commercial “Light Versus” appeals to the older generation of women that want to live a healthy lifestyle. Campbell’s advertisement is used to convince people to purchase their soup instead of the competing brand.…

Anti-drug public service announcements have used many different methods of achieving their goal. Many of these ads are intended to make people scared of drugs, however, I believe no PSAs have been as scary as the ads from the Montana Meth Project. The Montana Meth Project fights against meth use in the state of Montana. They have made many ads intended to educate and dissuade teens and young adults thinking about using meth. One such commercial, entitled Jessica, features multiple settings with a voiceover telling a story of a girl and her experiences in each place.…

The advertisements (commercials) I chose are from AARP (American Association of Retire People) and are presented on YOUTUBE on the World Wide Web. This advertisement is intriguing in that it is unusual and it does not endorse a specific product, other than itself, but rather the need for action by showing the lack of action, and does it well. This commercial is a very directed at a specific target audience of senior voters that currently do or soon will collect social security payments as well as the general population concerned with social security.…

The ad itself was created by a Mr. Ogilvy and I could not find a date a publication. The ad itself has in big black and red letters the words “the best reason to run since your health” and underneath it is a cell phone with a picture of a pig on it.…

The majority of the commercials we see these days are about companies advertising their products with the intention of showing the audience how they are better than the competition and ultimately convincing them of buying their product. On the other hand, some organizations use this method of communication to send a powerful message to the audience about issues concerning society. In this case, the United States Food and Drug Administration produced a commercial to send a message about how powerful the addiction for cigarettes is. The commercial is called “Bully” and is one of the many similar commercials of “The Real Cost” campaign which purpose is to reduce the number of teenagers who smoke by showing them the real costs of smoking.…

The three videos I watched were “Tips from Former Smokers” in this video some people are giving advice to other people to stop smoking. I believe this video would be effective at convincing individuals to change a behavior that has the potential to negatively affect their health because seeing other people who cannot talk helps them realize that if they continue to smoke something similar or worse can happen to them. “Anti-Prescription Drug Abuse Public Service Announcement” this video is giving an advice to parents to help prevent their children from not falling on drugs. Yes, I believe this video would be effective at convincing individuals to change a behavior that has the potential to negatively affect their health. “NYC Anti-Soda Public Service Announcement” This video is giving everyone an advice to stop drinking soda or other sugary drinks to drink water instead so we can be healthy.…

Defined by the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), “Direct-to-consumer advertising (DTCA) is the promotion directly to potential patients of prescription drugs through newspaper, magazine, television, and internet marketing” (1). This type of direct communication allows drug manufacturers to take advantage of its consumer’s lack of medical background and knowledge by promoting products directly to consumers in ways that could manipulate them. During drug manufacturer advertisements, consumers may be given false ideas of potential results and effectiveness of advertised medications. Pharmaceutical companies should not be allowed to advertise directly to its consumers because direct-to-consumer drug advertisements may misinform patients…

Finding trustworthy information can be difficult in our modern age where media bombards society with advertisements, many of which are seeking to manipulate consumers for profit. Corporations use advertising and media as a way to persuade people into believing they need more/better material goods in order to find happiness. Through the strategic use of color, design, and psychological tricks they convince viewers to buy products without stopping to evaluate the consequences that may be at hand. It is the consumer 's responsibility not only to be informed about the ideas being presented to them, but to also inform and protect those around them from falling victim to the problematic messages in the media. By providing education about the products and…

If a teen is told not to do something, they feel that their freedom is being taken away. “One in six teens binge drinks, yet only one in 100 parents believe his or her teen binge drinks.” “Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about a quarter of those crashes involved an underage drinking driver” ("Underage Drinking Statistics"). These are a small number of the damages that can be caused by underage drinking. There are many examples of how teenage alcohol abuse leads to lower success rates in school.…
