The Flaws Within the Justice System Are the laws of the justice system bias or fair to all citizens? In the movie Law Abiding Citizen a man named Clyde Shelton lost his wife and daughter in a home invasion. A district attorney named Nick Rice made a deal with Darby, who committed the crime all he had to do was confess to the crime and he would receive the minimum sentencing. Darby’s partner, Aimes was in shock by what was taking place, but he received the harsher sentencing. Clyde then took matters into his own hands by killing Darby, and innocent citizens. Clyde is a better citizen than Nick because his need for closure brought out flaws in the justice system and laws, while Nick takes the flaws for advantage for his own personal gain. This amendment shows just how little the justice system takes into consideration the crimes that are committed. A citizen who commits a serious crime and confesses hardly receives any punishment, but an innocent person who is being accused would receive harsher …show more content…
He wanted to get Nicks attention because he was not hearing what he was trying to tell him. Nick thought that Clyde was doing it all for revenge, but he was wanting someone to help him fill the emptiness that Darby caused within him. Nick was only thinking about what would have happened if they would have lost, Darby and Aimes would have walked away without any punishment, and Nick’s conviction rate would be ruined. Clyde would have been fine with that if they would have tried to win, but Nick did not even want to try and help

Convict Justice To solve the overcrowded prisons, we would first need to locate the source of the problem, and it begins with the British. The British hate the Irish, because they thought that they were beneath them. The Irish worked in the fields, and were hungry and starving often. For example, Nick shows he has good morals because he does not act out like everyone else. Nick says, “I have been drunk just twice in my life, and the second time was that afternoon" (Fitzgerald 29). Nick is not like every character in the story, he does not drink a lot like everyone else and does not act out like them. The author wrote, “As narrator, Nick is in the tradition of Bartleby 's employer: a good enough fellow, prudent, slightly obtuse but, nevertheless, willing to help if he can” (Aithal 3). Nick is a good man and is willing to help out anyone in that needs him.…

The Injustice in What Is Known as Justice As William Landay once said: “The human element in any system is always prone to error. Why should the courts be any different? They are not. Our blind trust in the system is the product of ignorance…” While several claim that racism in the United States ended with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, African Americans are still robbed of civil liberties and dignity by the white supremacy that lurks beneath the façade of our alleged democracy today.…

The novel starts off with Nicks father giving Nick an important advice “ Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone he told just remember that all the people in the world haven’t had the same advantages as you’ve had”(1). Nick keeps this advice to heart and believes he still lives by this advice, expect he does not. There have been many times in the novel showing Nicks judgment against others, for example, Nick favors Gatsby and puts him on a much higher pedestal than any other character in the book. Nick says to Gatsby “you’re worth the whole damn bunch put together ”(118). But still, he claims not to judge, if Nick cannot reliably judge his own actions than this proves that Nicks is an unreliable narrator.…

This was the seventh week out of twelve in my internship. This was another great week that was insightful and helpful to furthering my knowledge of the criminal justice system.
