The Expansion of Immigration Immigration has always been apart of our human history, as individuals who migrate in search of a better life. Despite the negative views this topic creates, immigrants today are increasingly blending into our society. Attitudes concerning this matter are very diverse in opinion and continue to be a great debate in our society. The author Dan Siciliano effectively supports his opinion on the positive impact of immigration in his essay called “Immigration: The Positive Impact.”

The author reveals to the reader that the fiscal costs of immigration is often exaggerated by the government. Siciliano states, “These costs are often exacerbated by the undocumented statues of man immigrants. An immigration policy that acknowledge the economic need for and benefits of immigration would significantly reduce the costs” (2006, p. 307). This gives great insight to the fact that immigrants contribute to less capita in tax revenue than their benefits. Immigration is a net positive for the United States economy and it presence does not harm the native born workforce (Siciliano, 2006). The author strategically provides great evidence by proving that immigration will have a plentiful amount of benefits not only for the economy, but for our continued resiliency. Describing the benefits of immigration, Dan Siciliano (2006) states, “To prosper, our economy desperately needs workers at both ends of the spectrum: young and less skilled as well as more educated and highly skilled” (p. 308). Without immigrants continued involvement in our society, our workforce would tremendously collapse. There wouldn’t be enough workers to fill in the increasing demand for less paying labor.
