The planning and executing of special events requires the careful planning of every aspect of the event. “These steps include how to design an event; establish an organizational structure and budget; develop marketing and media plans, a sponsorship strategy, and a risk management plan; implement the operational plan; and execute and evaluate the event” (Rehman, 2005, para.2). Some of the various aspects that must be planned for at an event are security, venue management, entertainment, sponsors, speakers, concessions, and volunteer management. The Carolina Live concert will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event is a one-time outdoor music concert, which will be held on June 25, 2016.

In regard to food safety, the event manager and the concessionaire will need to have a detailed plan to ensure that the proper food handling procedures are deployed for the event. Therefore, it is vital that all parties have a solid discussion about those particular aspects of the concession operations. Each state has its own food safety code for concessions. Cabarrus County is where the Charlotte Motor Speedway is located, so the Cabarrus health alliance is the public health authority of the county. “The Food and Lodging program consists of a variety of unannounced facility inspections, including: restaurants, food stands, meat markets, nursing homes and hospitals, school cafeterias, residential care facilities, mobile food units and pushcarts, summer camps, and lodging facilities” (Food & Lodging, 2015 parar.1). The Cabarrus County public health authority requires all mobile food trucks or temporary food stands to fall under the food and lodging program as well, so all concessions will have to meet the criteria of a particular food code in order to operate under the law. The concessionaire and event planner will cover and discuss this topic in great detail because there is not much room for error or debate regarding the rules governing this part of the concession operations. “The specific rules governing pushcarts and mobile food units are Rules .2670, "General Requirements for Pushcarts and Mobile Food Units"; .2671, "Specific Requirements for Pushcarts"; and .2672, "Specific Requirements for Mobile Food Units," Compliance with all of the rules is required for a permit” (General Requirements, 2015). Therefore, the concessionaire, event planner, and food truck owners will be required to submit the proof of the required permits before being able to operate at the concert. This

As many food service businesses should know, it is nearly impossible to avoid an outbreak of some sort forever. Unfortunately, Chipotle Mexican Grill is no exception. Since its founding, Chipotle’s claim to fame has been “food with integrity,” meaning you not only wanted to know where the food you were serving was coming from, you wanted to know how it was raised. This gesture sets such high expectations with yourself and with consumers. Although, high expectations are not necessarily a negative thing, when set exceedingly high and continually raised, the smallest unfortunate event, even an accident, can cause harm if handled incorrectly like the incident in October.…

It was warm, humid and cloudy on the day of our Jack Johnson concert. Despite the warmth, it was a perfect day to be outside and sitting on the lawn at the DTE Music Center to enjoy some relaxing tunes. Jack Johnson is classified as a folk and acoustic rock musician, however I compare him between a calmer version of John Mayer and Jason Mraz combined. He plays an acoustic electric guitar, but his guitar playing skills are nowhere near as good as his writing skills. He plays basic guitar chords, but his lyrics make the music.…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

This Stony Brook University performance was the first time I was exposed to any performance, so throughout the concert, there were many things that stuck out to me. The first thing that stuck out to me was the dress code. Upon arrival, I was surprised by dozens in very formal outfits. Once I was in the auditorium I did notice that there were indeed no phones, people talking or people eating. I saw the pride and excitement in some of the families faces as the performance began.…
