The black lives matter movement all started after the verdict of the George Zimmerman trial. It was July 2013, when Alicia Garza watched updates of trial and learned that George was found not guilty for shooting a 17-year-old African-American to death (CITATION). The 17-year-old was identified as Trayvon Martin and was found to be unarmed at the time of the incident. Even though there had been shooting of younger black men before this one felt personal to Garza because her brother has similar aspects to this young man (CITATION). Due to this, Facebook was the one place where Garza could write a message in response to this event for people to see. Her message ended with: “Black people. I love you. I love us. Our lives matter.” and this caught
