This article published by The New York Times: Stuff Happens to the Environment, Like Climate Change wrote by Thomas L. Friedman states China and India are having plans to curb their carbon emissions and other countries are also taking this climate change more seriously, as well as the United States. Then Ronald Reagan’s secretary of state George Shultz said how Reagan urged industry to proactively address ozone depletion and he believes people should be proactive in dealing with climate change. There is no improvement to the climate change because the government is in control of the situation and we are not the one destroy our economy. Shultz also said if we do not have any protection against climate change, one day we will be the one who is going to suffer. Because the impact to our earth’s ecosystem are still …show more content…
Nevertheless, the earth now is very good at finding ways to adapt to the all the impact above. So, if the earth are adjusted to all those problem the earth will be fine, but we will not be because, for example, ocean are more acidifying as they absorb more CO2 and forest are absorbing less carbon. There is a point in the article that we also needed to pay attention to electing our next president because we cannot elect someone who ignores the climate change and science that will make our earth worse.
I am agreeing with Shultz because we should be proactive with climate change because there is no other stuff that can make our climate to slow down except our government and us. He also said we need to proactively address ozone depletion. I think we really do need to do something because ozone depletion are caused by human because of chemicals that are produced by factories, we need to lower our use of chemicals and see if there is any ways to make our chemical more green for our earth. Also, in the article it said the earth is

Mark Bittman, author of the article “The Aliens Have Landed” published on the New York Times April 2, 2014 issue, argues that we need to take action to stop climate change. Bittman begins to support his argument by comparing our ignorant behavior towards climate change to the “retreating French” during World War II. He then informs the recent news from the Panel on Climate Change to emphasize the negative effects, and sarcastically compares them to aliens invading Earth. He next proposes a public works project and provides several examples of what can be done to start addressing climate change before it is too late. The author’s purpose is to…

He states that he believes the issue of climate change is less of the utter catastrophe that most news outlets seem to make it out to be, and that it will moreso be a problem humanity will adapt to with little struggle. He begins by noting how the IPCC apparently believes that global warming will only serve a minor inconvenience, and how people will simply need to mitigate and adapt in order to survive. The paper then moves to describe various apocalyptic predictions dating back to the beginnings of civilization to the present. These are compared to the…

To reduce the use of fossil fuels, we must convince US Congress to reduce co2 emissions by converting to renewable energy sources in our industries. Yet, our government continues to dismiss the existence of global warming. Speaking of government attitudes concerning this topic, President Trump proclaims in a tweet that we, "could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming." In response to recent cold fronts in the US.…

Amazingly; the idea of climate change even occurring is half-heartedly dismissed in both articles. In Florida, for instance, discussion of needed changes regarding climate change is not even considered - “In October, Florida filed suit against the Environmental Protection Agency, seeking to block new rules aimed at limiting warming by reducing power-plant emissions” (Miami citation). Instead of implementing much needed drastic measures needed to combat environmental policies, a lawsuit is filed…

Sumner backs up this statement by expressing that 195 nations committed to an ambitious pledge to retaliate against climate change and control carbon emissions. In the next decade after the movie caught the public’s attention, scientists have made major advances in technology concerning climate change. The author later includes evidence on how an enhanced understanding of Earth’s inner workings and better climate-simulating computers have given experts a better grasp on how the climate will change. Better technology is a wonderful thing when it comes to predicting what the planet may be like in the future. This way if a simulation says Earth is doomed, humans can take precautionary steps to prevent the worst from…

Friedman later discusses how in the environment gains are privatized and losses are socialized. In the United States, any discussion on a plan of action surrounding climate change always comes down to dollars and cents. Money fuels any decision made by our country and the environment is no exception. When decisions are made regarding what to do with the environment, the financial setback it causes the country is the main consideration. Environmentalists tell everyone what we should be doing, and the government debates whether or not it is worth it.…

An article posted by CNN reviews Trump’s perspective on climate change as just last year he stated in an address to the public “I don’t believe in climate change,” as he also presents reasoning to America’s pulling out of the Climate Accord saying that it would have cost us 2.7 million jobs by the year 2025. The Bureau of Labor Statistics connects both of these claims to reality, as a 10% increase in the highest job unemployment yet, was a result of the climate itself, opposing the goal of the Paris Agreement which would in turn lower the average temperature of the oceans, decreasing danger of hurricanes and unemployment in America. Furthermore, climate change is not only a reality, but it is getting worse, average temperature increases becoming much more profound to some while the realization of their danger is made. Presented to the Paris Agreement in December of 2015, the government of France set a long term goal to keep the average temperature increase below 2 degrees within the…

Imagine a barren wasteland, incapable of supporting the growth of any form of life and overpopulated with more people than it could sustain: this is the future of the earth. But, this is not just another scene from a sci-fi film of a population that has expedited their vital resources, but the reality for the “over 7 billion people” who populate the home we call earth (Hardaway 4). A considerable amount of blame is placed on global warming which is an “increase in the temperature of the lower atmosphere“; however, global warming has not garnered enough acceptance from some political officials and skeptics due to the term’s ambiguity (“global warming”). Global warming is often confused with climate change and although these terms sound alike…

Anyone can have valid information, but the way they present it can affect their credibility. In the speech “Global warming alarmism reaches a tipping point” by Senator James Inhofe, he points out the targeted audience of global warming films. In his speech he uses a lot of ad hominems in an attempt to make his target lose credibility or damage their reputation, he uses fallacies against the person who made them to make them appear less credible, and he over uses pathos appeal which caused him to lose credibility. Inhofe’s speech is the least credible because he uses ad hominem attacks to discredit DiCaprio.…

Alejandro Vieyra Mr. Moody English 4 5 December 2016 Climate Change Must Stop Climate change is the changing of weather patterns in regions all around the world. The primary cause of climate change is the appreciable amount of fossil fuel emissions that humans are sending into the atmosphere. These emissions consist of carbon dioxide that ultimately retain more heat in our atmosphere than needed, thus elevating the temperature everywhere around the globe and damaging ecosystems greatly. Many people, including politicians and scientists, believe that climate change is simply a hoax. Although some prefer to believe that climate change is fake and we have nothing to worry about, there are concrete facts that prove these individuals wrong.…

Consistently the environment is changing and not always for the better. Things we do in regular day to day existence are annihilating our environment. For example, driving automotive vehicles, utilizing power from coal-terminated powerplants, or warming our homes with oil or gaseous petrol, all have terrible and destructive effects on our environment. One of those influences is Global Warming. There are individuals who debate the impacts of Global Warming, yet scientist has demonstrated that levels of Carbon dioxide in the environment have expanded by more than 10% since 1950, while normal temperatures have ascended by more than 0.5°C/1°F in a similar period.…

In recent years, as technology advances faster than ever, there has also been a huge surge in the awareness of global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. In the article, The Fast-Approaching ‘Point of No Return’ for Climate Change by Karin Kamp and John Light, top climate scientists warns the international policymakers about the current and potential permanent damages to our environment, sets a target level for lessening harmful greenhouse gases, and urges policymakers to push for new policies concerning the environment. In the article, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) explains that the damages have already affected the earth through climate change (e.g. global warming) and rising sea levels. The IPCC warns that if the…
