Human Trafficking A serious topic that most people do not talk about or know about is human trafficking. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people usually for sexual purposes. In the novel, Sold by Patricia McCormick, a young girl who lives with her poor family in a small village in Nepal, must set out to get a job in the city. Relying on complete stranger to take her there, she gets to the city and is forced into sex trafficking. In the novel, young girls are forced into sex trafficking without a choice. People are not educated enough when it comes to sex trafficking. Most people do not even realize that these cruel acts are happening all around them; they are oblivious to the fact. Human trafficking is a crime that goes unnoticed.

A woman named Anuradha Koirala the founder and director of Maiti Nepal, started a safe house for girls using her own money. She dedicated her life to end the sexual abuse for women and children. Going into these brothel houses to retrieve these women and children is a dangerous job. She puts her life in danger for these children. Most of the people who work for her are the girls that she rescued. There are almost 30 million people forced into human trafficking in the world. The organization Friends of Maiti Nepal works together with Maiti Nepal to end sex trafficking. Another organization working to save these children is International Justice Mission (IJM). IJM not only tries to save these people but they try to prevent it from ever happening. People build homes for these people to go after they are rescued they give them supplies and help to get their lives back together. There are also support groups who gather up a group of girls and parade around holding up signs to try and shut down the
