(A) Pre-Season:
During the pre-season Coach Long-distance cardiovascular workouts, short-distance sprints, weight training, and other basic fundamental aspects of softball practice were implemented to construct workout sessions. Individual workouts sometimes were based on assigned positions and then combined to perform team drills. The coach emphasized the importance of the drills as an attempt to supplement the basic knowledge of the sport while enhancing each athlete’s performance to produce a better overall team. The girls eventually were evaluated on analysis of conduct and performance both in the classroom, video sessions, and on the softball diamond.
(B) Practice Session:
Coach began assigning positions to each girl with the required

Malvern’s team consisted of 19 girls on the active roster and they were coached by head coach, Coach Darryl Baker. The two teams agreed to set up for a nonconference tilt because of the close relative distance between the schools. I noticed that Coach Baker also was a direct coach with very caring characteristics for his athletes. Yet, there communication was far better than Arkadelphia’s that day. Their team displayed skills superlative to most high school softball teams in the early season. Due to the outcome of the game not much bad talk came from Coach Baker because his team completely dominated the game, so he didn’t have much to gripe about. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship. There wasn’t much mouthing from either dugouts. Overall a well-played game with little to no signs of bad sportsmanship. There were several breaks during the game that allowed players to rehydrate. The coaches made sure to keep player fresh by providing sufficient amounts of rest and water. I also was able to record some of this with my mobile …show more content…
This observation project has allowed me to parallel the concepts Dr. Kanyiba has implemented throughout the semester to the game of softball. Arkadelphia High School runs a well-organized program for their softball team and Coach Rook displays a passion for the game that drives her athletes. Coach Rook’s coaching style allows athletes to incorporate personal techniques that may complement the initial instructional techniques demonstrated for athletes during practice session. However, Coach makes sure not to let the athletes get too selfish or stubborn in their learning process. The code of conduct gave insight on how much the coach requires out of the team, but it also elucidates on how to be a successful teammate within the program. The pre-season intense workouts consisted of various things such as long cardiovascular exercises and short-distance sprints. The workouts were set in place in order to supplement the understanding of the game while enhance each athlete’s performance. This in return would make better athletes and a better overall team status. Along with pre-season was the evaluation period which was based off of analysis of the girls conduct and performances in the classroom, video study sessions and out on the field. Once practices began, Coach Rook assigned each girl to a certain position that she felt would help the team most. After the assignment of each player in the lineup, Coach started instructing her athletes on what to do. She explained the

Imagine a 6 year old girl wanting to play softball and her first time on the field her coach is yelling at her. The topic of how a coach treats their player has been a debate thought history. Even though some say coaches should be strict, there should be strict rules for how a coach treats the players because it can mess with their head and could lead to unfair treatment. First of all, when coaches say push their players it affects the players mental state when it comes to the sport. According to the site Debate.org it states that coaches affect whether or not these players want to keep playing and when you ride them to hard it makes them not want to keep playing and when you ride them to hard it makes them not want to play.…

Re-entering the Game Based on past and current practice, softball should be brought back to the 2020 Olympics. Softball and baseball were recently removed after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The International Olympic Committee, also known as the IOC, decided that they needed to lessen the number of sports in the Olympics and baseball and softball were among the first to be removed. From the first game in the Olympics in 1966, to the last in 2008, the only teams to ever win medals were the United States, Japan, China, and Australia. A major reason for the removal of softball was that out of all those medals the United States had the majority; three gold medals and one bronze (“Softball”).…

If there weren’t a baseball team for a school due to lack of players, then a male interested would have to play on the softball team. He would most probably lead the league in steals, hits, pretty much everything because of his strength and the fence would be no more than 215 feet so he could easily get a home run (Janelle Greer, 2011). Although Janelle Greer claims men playing in a womens’ softball league would completely dominate, we don’t need her to tell us that. Anyone familiar with how many women are capable of playing with men has long known that just because men are stronger, it doesn’t mean that women shouldn’t get a chance to play with the…
