TCCH use lean daily management tools to create a culture of safety and employee engagement. Lean daily management is one of the tools TCCH is using on its journey to becoming a high reliable organization. Lean daily management increases employee engagement, by encouraging staff to identify opportunities for improvement within their area then supporting the employees as they discover the solution to the problem. Employee engagement is supported through nursing shared governance and unit based councils. TCCH is able to maintain a low turnover rate through staff engagement and daily executive rounding. Daily rounding on dayshift and weekly on nights helps the executive team build relationships with each employee. TCCH strategically uses sign on bonus to recruit and retain employees. A registered nurse can earn a $10,000 sign on bonus by committing two years to TCCH. The facility has learned that a higher sign on bonus with a longer commitment helps reduce overall recruitment cost and …show more content…
He prepared his team by providing them the tools they needed to accomplish his goal. Paul shares an example of this in, Ephesians 4:11-13 (MSG) “Christ provided the apostle, prophet, evangelist, and teacher to train his followers in skilled servant work, working within his body the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ”. Christ recognized the abilities within people that would bring glory to him and satisfaction to his people. Although we all come to faith as an individual, man is not meant to work alone. Community makes us stronger. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth, and if one falls down, the other helps, but if there’s no one to help, tough”.
Conclusion
Developing a mental health CSU at TCCH will improve patient outcomes not only for the mental health patient, but also for the other the patients presenting to the ED who will no longer be displaced by the patient. The CSU will help patients experiencing a psychiatric crisis recover quicker by reducing the anxiety and agitation they develop in the chaotic ED environment. Although the CSU will not likely be a positive revenue source for the hospital, it will improve the hospitals

Relation of Fawcett’s Meta-Paradigm to the POI Jacqueline Fawcett developed a metaparadigm to define the discipline of nursing. Her goal was to ensure that nurses would be able to clearly communicate their role and the duties that they perform. Fawcett defined the nursing discipline as the study of relations between the following concepts: human being, environment, health, and nursing; she believed that these concepts were important and could help shape the discipline of nursing (Butts & Rich, 2015). The concepts are connected in a sense that a change in one affects the change in another.…

Introduction Training Topic On September 11, managers, supervisors, and executive leaders from Memorial Hospital Los Banos (MHLB) will complete training on leader standard work. Leader standard work is a lean tool that helps leaders to identify what is value-add and non-value-add in their work. Once a leader can identify what is non-value add, they should start the process of eliminating their non-value add activities and spend more time coaching their employees to problem solve and improve patient care. In lean, value is determined by what the customer is willing to pay for.…

Lobbying for safe staffing goes hand in hand with what a labor organization represents. The American Nurses Association works to ensure safe working environments for nurses on a national and state level. Labor laws protect nurses through collective bargaining by encouraging hospital management and executives to follow guidelines on patient-to-nurse ratios for safer practice (Budd et al., 2004). The legislation for safe staffing is needed to strengthen the power of labor laws in all states nationally to ensure safe patient-to-nurse ratios occur in every…

The Registered Nurse Staffing Act (2015) will address all the concerns of the stakeholders, hospitals, patients and registered nurses in regards to safe staffing practices. The Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2015 amends the title XVII Medicare of Social Security Act to mandate that each hospital funded by Medicare, implements a hospital-wide staffing plan for all nursing services provided by the institution. The AACN suggests nurses nurse staffing must ensure an effective match between nurse skills and patient needs (AACN, 2016). Not only does inappropriate staffing lead to medical errors, it can also bring about stressed and overworked nurses. The unit I work on is often short-staffed leading nurses to take on more than they are used to and leaving charge nurses scrambling to assign duties and calling in reinforcements. To the best of my ability, I will try to match my nurse’s abilities to the patient’s acuities and request critique if the assignments do not work effectively with current staffing. In order to address the staffing needs and the workflow that changes hour to hour, I believe the implementation of a resource nurse role will help address the staffing needs when patient loads become hectic.…
