The essay "Tupac and My Non-thug Life" by Jenee Desmond-Harris starts off with her coming home cheerleading practice. Her mom informed her that her favorite rapper, Tupac, her and her friend loved so much died. He died in a Las Vegas shooting. It was all over the news and a lot of phone calls were made. Her and her best friend, Thea, got together and drank alcohol to help with the pain of losing Tupac. They put tattoos on their stomachs and described what they were wearing and what they looked like. Jenée loved Tupac so much because she was black and his songs helped her get through high school. Not only academic wise but through sports as well. His music was something to get her started in flaunting how she was black. Eventually it became a cool thing to …show more content…
Jenée is not the only person that has gone through a rough time. When I was in sixth grade, my mother was arrested. She made up this big lie and to keep it going, there was a hole bunch of little lies. She lied about having cancer. The part that got her in trouble was the fact that she had a banquet and she stole a whole bunch of money. It was a rough time for me because I realized everything that came out of her mouth was a lie. Not only did she lie to me, she lied to my whole family. The lie that hurt me the most was when she told me that she was dying. This means that to make it seem like she actually had cancer and was going to die, she was going to commit suicide. Deep down inside me, I didn't feel bad for her. It was time for her to get her punishment. Today, she has gone through multiple therapy sessions and has been in and out of jail quite a bit. Unfortunately, she hasn't learned her lesson. She's still the same person she was when she got arrested. What happened to my mother has actually turned out to be better for me. I no longer have to worry about her or be lied to. My mother has affected my life's decisions in a positive

On Monday, April 19th, 2017, at approximately 1500hrs, I Detective A Richards and Lieutenant A Williams responded to a dead body in the residential area on 306 Oak Street. Upon my arrival, I noticed numerous patrol units on the scene as well as police security tapes surrounding the address mentioned above. Subsequently, I came into contact with the Patrol Officer that was in charge, Sergeant Tupac Shakur then briefed me on the situation at hand. According to Sergeant Tupac Shakur, he was dispatched to 306 Oak Street for the reason that Bob Marley had not seen or spoken to his daughter Nicki Aaliyah Minaj since the evening of Friday, April 15th, 2017. I later learned that this was highly uncommon seeing that Haughton remained in contact with the family on a constant basis.…

Book Review - After TuPac and D Foster A large variety of different themes take place in the book “After Tupac and D Foster” by Jacqueline Woodson, a 2008 published literature fiction novel that experience the point of view from the lives of 3 pre-teen females from Brooklyn, and their obsession over rapping sensation, Tupac. Overall, the book has a very fast tempo. The Novel allows the readers to focus well and become easily engaged by the plot. My observation on the text is a positive assessment, due to the easy readability, fast pace, and plot that is relevant to the realities of the intended audience. The intended Audience would be a highschool student, generally.…

"I hung around with the thugs, and even they sold drugs they showed a young brother love. " It's distinguished for Tupac that the crowd he is hanging around is not in the best interest for him nor his family but what they bring for him outweighs that. It out weights it on a emotional level. His dad, or better yet the lack of a dad is prominently stated in the song. Without a father figure people, especially teenagers tend to be lost and search for things to replace that father figure.…

Jenee Desmond – Harris wrote an article called “Tupac and My Non-thug Life,” which was published in an online article called The Root. The title of this article seems very contradictory and that is because it is. This article is about how Desmond – Harris, as a young privileged half white, half black teenage girl, finds herself trying to embody Tupac after his death. The contradiction of this is that Desmond-Harris did not relate to Tupac in the ways of how they grew up. Desmond – Harris had yet to confront any of life’s hard edges when Tupac had passed.…
