In this week’s edition of The Alabama Paper, our main story is Tom Robinson’s court case. On November 21 last year Tom Robinson allegedly raped Mayella Ewell, Mr.Ewells daughter. Last Wednesday men, women and children, both black and white gathered in the courtroom to watch Atticus Finch defend a black man “Tom Robinson.”
The case began with Mrs.Ewell’s version of what happened on the day of November 21. Mrs.Ewell said she invited Tom into her house to do an odd job for her. She claimed that Tom had followed her into the house, he then hit her in the side of the face and took advantage of her. However Mrs.Ewells story had a flaw to it where she said Tom hit her in the face and choked her,
