The Well wrote by Mildred D. Taylor is a book about two families mainly called the Logans and the Simms that takes place in part of Mississippi in the 1900s where all the wells are in a drought. White people come from all places to get water from the logans even when they treat them badly. When Charlie Simms meanness starts to continue and Hammers pride gets in the way they start to get physical. One day when Charlie was being very mean Hammer beat him up that brought a lot stress and pain to the family because white people had more power. Then Hammer and his brother David had to work for the Simms the whole summer. Hammer got really angry after the summer and beat Charlie once again. To get revenge Charlie put a dead animal in the Logans well
