Summary Of The Way I Work

In the article “The Way I Work” by, the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, he explains his idea of work and how it correlates to the functionality of his company. A term that we would use to describe this pattern of development is process analysis, but it also seems as if he implores classification. Yvon is able to achieve this by explaining, in multiple ways, how he his work in the company is executed, “my job is to be on the outside and bring ideas into the company and forge change” (Yvon Chouinard). This is the first, non-specific, way in which he describes what he does for the company, however, it doesn't tell us how he does it or breaks down each form of work that is put into the company—unlike this quote, “I'm shaking things up. The Diligent was written by Robert Harms and discusses the fifteen-month voyage of the Diligent to Martinique, including the world of the Atlantic slave trade. In his book, Harms uses the recently “discovered” journal of First Lieutenant Robert Durand. The author of the book makes references to Durand’s journal as well as the overall Atlantic slave trade. The Diligent can be viewed as an accurate representation of what the Atlantic slave trade was like during the eighteenth century right down to the business of the slave trade, the voyage itself, and the middle passage. Most ships that European slave traders used on their voyages to go into Africa were owned by merchants similar to the Billy brothers.…

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

There are several experiences in my life where I have felt that I was treated in an unfair manner, but the most recent of those experiences is the one that occurred to me only months prior to this application. Up until the beginning of November of this year, I used to believe that being a great and successful student would be the most rewarding accomplishment of my senior high career. As a result of this, I unwisely assumed that the most important thing in my life was how well I could do on the next test. I spent a meager amount of my time involved in anything else aside from my homework or studying; expecting to be fairly remunerated for a majority of my hard work. Earlier this year, I was indeed rewarded with an application to National Honors…

Mangers in Patagonia display characteristics that are unique to Patagonia and really effects how the business runs. These characteristics and managerial behaviors align with some of the communications skills that we talked about in class. It was important for Chouinard to have a more spirited and less systematic team of managers and division heads. The lower-level staff is allowed to question something that they might think is a bad decision; in fact, it is seemingly encouraged. Managers are there to ‘pump up’ the employees into buying into what they’re designing and producing.…
