In the article The Waxed Generation, Michael Koenigs highlights how, with time, people's’ consideration of their appearance has changed, as well as how in this time, people alter themselves to match what is their standard of attractiveness. Koenigs observation begins with his friend, who had his chest waxed in order to appear more attractive. He branches off of this to point out that the new ideals of good looks are drastically different from what it may have been before, and is near unachievable without artificial enhancements. So what do people do? They use those enhancements. From the early 1990’s to 2004, the number of teenage girls who received implants has gone up by more than eleven times, and this number can only have gone up by 2016.
